This reminds me of 2002 Arkansas game when Saban settled for a field goal and then allowed back to back hail mary passes to cost us a trip to Atlanta.

What frustrates me is that people don't realize that it happens to every coach, even the best ones. I'll give you two other Saban games: 2003 Florida (easily could have cost LSU the title)and 2004 Auburn(cost LSU a trip to Atlanta).
Saban was a great coach at LSU, but even he had some tough ones. It happens to all of them, but people have short memories.

Not taking up for Saban but their is a big difference between settling for a field goal and trying a fake field goal with 12 yards to go. Also trying a 54 yard field goal when your pk best is from 45 yards out.
I am not blaming Les for Bama's comeback score (although I do think the defense played to soft). But the above referenced calls were really no brainers. You are going to have an occasional hail mary pass beat you---don't beat yourself with risks that have 5% chance of working especially when you are winning the line of scrimmage.
IMO we would benefit from a good offensive coordinator. Les is our coach and I support him 100%. He has proven to not be the best game day coach.
