My mom just had over 3000 slides transfered to digital. Cost about $1G But worth it to save 50 year old slides.

There are slide to digital converters that can be purchased via the inter webs. Depending on the qty, may be worth it.

I have one. Was going to do my moms slides. Would have taken me months. If I only had a few it would work good, but not for thousands.

I know it sounds suspect but Scancafe has a great reputation. You have to mail your slides to India (that's why it's cheap) but they do a good job.

It wont be cheap but it will be good, Kadairs. I am pretty sure that they could do it for you, for a price. I do know that their results are top notch for everything else though.

I used to scan slides at work. All it took was a flatbed scanner and a plastic frame about 8.5 x 11 that you snap the slides into. Put it on the scanner and sacn at HIGH resolution. (1200 dpi) If you have a flatbed scanner, you can just arrange the slides on the glass and scan. Just remember you want to scan at the highest resolution you can. Once you have a high resolution 'contact sheet', you can clip out individual images, and blow them up, in Photoshop - or any image procesing software. They also make slide scanners for about $100-$200: LINK

79, just for the sake of getting a 2nd price from a reputable place,, and they probly won't be the cheapest, but call Bob Sale Camera and LSU Shop in Monroe at 318-322-3425.. They have done stuff for me.. It would be a good point of reference for you for price. You probly remember Rob Sale, OL at LSU,,, Rob is Bobs son..
