| The Ragin' Cajuns are dying (Posted on 11/28/12 at 8:25 pm)
The Sun Belt is dying and our administration is entirely too lazy to do anything about getting us in another conference. They continually lean on the excuse of "no market" as a crutch for their incompetence. Mark Hudspeth is going to leave this offseason if any real offer comes. A lot of talk about him being pissed off. I can't blame him either, he works too hard to be held back by his buffoon bosses. Congratulations to whomever gets him. Hud just had his coach's show tonight and Jay Walker didn't even mention any of the conference shite. In fact, he didn't even take questions from the crowd. This is after he wrote the article about how the Sun Belt should focus on basketball. He's the worst thing about our department. If he's ever said a negative thing, I'd like to hear it. I know this will get trolled but I just needed to vent. It's not the fact that we got passed over, it's the fact that we didn't even try. Hopefully we have a good New Orleans Bowl because when Hud leaves, we'll have a hell of a time replacing him. The worst part is that no one is going to call them out because the athletic department will cut them off. Congratulations La Tech fans. I'm still going to talk shite though.

Why the frick are they going to pay a coach $800,000 if you're sticking with a small time mentality? Might as well put all of the RCAF money into basketball.

Looks like you're gonna be stuck with South kicking your arse in basketball every year too. Jesus, no one wants any of us LOL. If those a-holes up north just sat tight, the SBC would probably be stronger than CUSA in a few years but the whole conference is a goddamn mexican stand off.

Yeah but it wasn't manifested in TV money and bowl tie-ins. If it was, no one would have left.

They also hired the guy who oversaw the downfall of the WAC to be their commissioner. Good idea guys

When the Big Four conferences are finally formed, there will be a lot of lower tier teams walking round with their thumbs up their butt. I cann't stand the weenies but at least their administration has been aggressive, in getting the new football stadium built & now a decent move to the Big East. As to what actually happens when the Big Four is formed, just consider that there is nothing too farfetched As an old timer I recall thinking all the old Dick Tracy gadgets were science fiction, too. Once those 4 conferences begin to use their leverage, the NCAA as it exists today mite well be history. If your administrators are lazy & not thinking far ahead, then you are indeed in trouble.

I'm starting to wonder if when the Big 4 or 5 major conferences finally settle, we'll start to see a migration back to more regional conferences for the smaller schools. The big spread out conferences may work for the leagues with big money. But I can't see it continuing to work for the smaller leagues.

If we end up with 4 "super conferences" which comprise about 64 teams, give or take a few, I would be in favor of a split. In other words, the 64 or so teams in the super conferences could play for one championship, and the other remaining teams from the FBS (Division I-A as I still like to call it) could become their own entity and play for their own title. The bowls could still play a role in all this, but you could now have FBS-1, FBS-2, and then the FCS group. This way, the MAC teams and the teams that get left out of the super-leagues can have their legitimate shot at playing for a title.

Where did you hear this talk? I know fans are saying stuff like "I bet Hud is pissed at the administration" but nothing more

The Sun Belt is what it is. And ULL is what it is. It's a small school, in a small state, in a small city with a small ath budget. But ULL fans didnt realize one thing...THAT'S OK!!!!!! They tried to be someone they're not. Instead of maximizing their assets, they tried to minimize their liabilities...that coupled with piss poor school administration. The school should have NEVER went with the name change shit, stayed in IAA, dominated, competitive in the FCS and be happy. But no... I know I pick on you guys but I am close friends with two of your biggest boosters, I work with em, play with em and love em to death and have had this conversation with em a million times But hey, keep banging your head against the wall. Yall hate everyone else in the state so bad it clouds your decision making and portrays where your at today. /rant
