Nice 22 rifles

My wife is asking me what I want for Christmas and I want to get a nice 22 that I can give to my sons when they get older. Next year I guess I will do the same so my other son can have one. I looked at Henry's but wanted to see if there was anything else that the OB would go with. TIA

I've got a henry and love it. If I were you and was getting it for my son, I would go with the henry golden boy.

this is what I was gonn say. My dads is a work of art. You almost dont wanna shoot it. If you want something that can be beat around and used I get the 10/22 or the marlin 60 Both are top notch .22s

Wouldn't mind a Henry either. My brother also has a really nice Winchester lever action .22

That's why I didn't get the GB. I wanted to not feel bad if it got dinged up a little. I'll buy one for my god son in a few years.

That's why I'm going to stay away from the Golden boy, I want to shoot it with them a lot. 10/22 looks like a great gun.

I still like my semi-auto scoped Marlin

Love my model 60. Had it for 28 years now.

Thread Hijack

Have you ever had any trouble with your Marlin 60 not cycling rounds?

I've had mine about 6 months and the damn thing won't even eject the casing, much less seat another round cleanly. I've tried every make of .22 round I can get my hands on and no luck. Never seen this problem with anybody's model 60. Dad had one, cousin has one. Mine just wants to shite itself it seems. Any suggestions?

To the OP: Henry all the way. If you don't want lever action, Browning makes some sweet little 22's as well.

I would look at the regular henry lever action if you're worried about dinging it up. Straight shooting right out of the box

re: Nice 22 rifles
I can vouch for the basic lever action Henry as well. I got one as my 16 bday present. I prefer the semi auto to the lever action, but I shoot it quite a bit as well. I had trouble breaking mine in with federal shells. Almost every other one would get hung up in the chamber and I'd have to dig it out. After a few hundred rounds it was not an issue anymore. Now it's smoother than glass.

re: Nice 22 rifles
As long as the chamber and action have a little lube, mine works great. If a little gunk builds up, it will jam.

re: Nice 22 rifles
I've lubed it and cleaned it. Should I just keep shooting it and see if it finally breaks in?

Feel silly bringing it to a shop. The thing is so damn simple, there's nothing to it.

For a good semi auto, can't go wrong with a 10/22. There are more variations than I can count.

For a good lever, I also vote Henry Golden Boy. If you want to step up in caliber, you can get a Henry Big Boy in .45 Colt, .357/.38, 44 mag, and 30-30.
