This I agree with. I don't think that denying her boarding is what caused her to die. BUT, they should not have claimed they couldn't accommodate her coming back if they were able to do it going over.

Discrimination applies to traits people have no control over such as race, gender, age, etc. Nobody forces fatties to eat. Why should the rest of us be forced to accommodate people's lack of will power and laziness? In conclusion, frick off.

Its not like she was denied boarding because of her health condition, they physically could not fit her safely on the aircraft. Ultimately her decision to travel abroad in such poor health and refuse to seek treatment overseas is the reason she died.

That isn't their decision to make
The airlines have quite a bit of latitude in making those type of decisions. Problem is, many people, particularly on long haul flights, either don't consult a physician prior to traveling, travel AMA, or usually flat out lie to the airlines, and try to bluff their way on board, or into trying to get away without paying additional amounts required for special needs.

Then how could they fit her on the aircraft on her way over? I'm assuming they fly the same planes back and forth and don't have larger planes that fly over and smaller ones that fly back?

They explained that. They didn't have any seatbelt extenders. And before someone says, "but seatbelts are pretty much useless," that is irrelevant.

This decision is probably up to the individual gates and crews, and I'd bet the ticket fine print says so. What if she had a habit of getting shitfaced before flying and the NYC people didn't notice or care but the Turkey people did?

"Sorry, ma'am, you're not ... big enough ... for Wide Body." I knew a dude here in Orlando must've weighed 600-700 pounds. One time I was on a flight with him to L.A. or somewhere and I had the impression the plane was leaning a bit to his side. But he bought 3 seats for himself and we got there okay.

On any of their planes? Or any of the other airlines? I'm going to call BS on this. But whatever works for them.

There were probably extra seats on the flight going over and they were able to ship her on her way. Someone that big knows that they are required to purchase an extra seat(s) to accommodate their size. Return flight was probably full save the seat that she purchased for herself, and she could not be accommodated.

She purchased 2 seats for herself. Now if she actually needed 3, then maybe the could have sold her another seat and put her on another flight.

Airlines fly different type of aircraft on the same routes all the time. Also, I am sure the airport in New York is much more accustomed to dealing with overweight people on a regular basis then any airport abroad.

Im sure if her family would complain to Delta some dork in India would offer up to her a whopping 7500 skymiles to make up for it.

Fine. So none of their flights and none of the other airlines fly larger planes coming back? I don't really have a dog in this fight. I just find it interesting that she bought 2 tickets for herself; they got her there; but then couldn't get her back because they couldn't fit her on the plane, and BTW we don't have any seat belt extensions.

So all the overweight people who fly abroad either stay or take a boat back?
