| Arafat's body exhumed, seeking evidence of poison (Posted on 11/27/12 at 1:30 am)
quote:
The body of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was exhumed on Tuesday by a team of international experts trying to discover if he was poisoned, as many Palestinians believe. French magistrates opened a murder inquiry in August into Arafat's death in Paris after a Swiss institute said it had discovered high levels of radioactive polonium on his clothing, which was supplied by his widow, Suha.
so what if they find anything, someone gonna say sorry? SIAP, kinda shocked I didn't see anything about it

If I'm ever President I'm farming all of our CIA work out to Mossad.

Yeah, because Arafat made so few enemies - we'll be able to narrow it done to 1 or 2.

Why would anyone want to poison him? He won a Nobel Peace Prize. That's practically sainthood right?

If they find something, I'll be curious to see how Morsi reacts. Of course Bibi will say "don't look at me, Ariel Sharon was in charge when Arafat died".

Because Mossad can get anyone anywhere anytime.

The probe was revived this summer when a Swiss lab detected elevated traces of a lethal radioactive substance, polonium-210, in biological stains on his clothing.
It only takes an amount the size of a grain of sand for Pol-210 to be lethal. The half-life is 138(ish) days, so even if it was used the evidence would have long ago decayed away.

They may be able to find minute traces of radiation, above what might be considered "normal", but nothing conclusive. I suspect this will end badly and for bad reasons. This will take just about long enough to re-arm Hamas.

What this reminds me of is the time Bibi got caught poisoning Hamas leader Khaled Mashal and was forced by Jordan to provide the antidote to save his life lest Jordan execute two of its Mossad agents.
quote:
On September 25, 1997, the Mosad agents waited at the entrance of the Hamas offices in Amman, with the intention of assassinating Khalid Mish'al. They succeeded in injuring him, using a lethal substance. However, immediately afterwards, Khalid Mish'al's personal chauffeur and a security guard intervened. The chauffeur, who saw what was happening, hit the agent with a newspaper on his hand. The security guard began to chase the agents, and was able to note the license plate number of the car in which they had escaped, and boarded a passing car in order to pursue them. The agents were unaware that they were being followed. After some 300 meters, they stopped their car and left it. The security guard chased them and, with the help of a plainclothes policeman, managed to overpower and apprehend them. The agents were driven by the policeman and the security guard in a taxi to the nearest police station, and placed under arrest. When news of the agents' arrest broke in Israel, the Head of the Mosad flew to Jordan, with the Prime Minister's consent, in order to report the events to the King in person, bringing with him an antidote to treat Khalid Mish'al.
LINK
quote:
-- Netanyahu wanted Mashaal killed, overruling objections of some Cabinet members, and ignoring an offer from Hamas for a 10-year cessation of hostilities and bombings. -- Once it was known that the assassination had failed, Netanyahu called King Hussein of Jordan, saying, "We have a problem." -- Hussein considered recalling his ambassador to Israel and demanded that Netanyahu provide the poison antidote. -- Netanyahu first refused to do so, but changed his mind after U.S. President Bill Clinton intervened. Clinton was quoted as saying of Netanyahu: "I cannot deal with this man. He is impossible."

If there is any tissue left, the affects of pol-210 on a molecular level may be detectable...... fragmentation of nuclei, chromosomal damage, as well as tumor induction.

I think they can get something out of the bones, but we may be at the very edge of even doing that - I still say it won't be conclusive (but I've been wrong before) - and will take just long enough to rearm Hamas.

What a silly mistake by Netanyahu. He should have just sent in a commando raid. The commandos could have killed Khalid Mish'al, transported his body to some spot in the Mediterranean, buried him at sea, and then Netanyahu could have made an announcement taking credit for the deed in a television address. Then he would have been able to campaign for re=election as Prime Minister crowing I killed Mish'al. Or he could have ordered an aerial drone to attack Mish'al with a guided missile, and not risked the lives of any Israelis while doing the deed. War fighting is a dirty business.

I have no idea how he died, No idea what that guy actually said But, if that is Arafat's personnel doctor why did the French have to tell him he died of HIV? How would his personnel doctor not know he had HIV and what is condition prognossis was? He went to France for treatment this guy couldn't deliver in the West Bank and he doesn't know why he died? Soundslike Suha or whatever Arafat's wife's name is had a medical malpractice case. Maybe the statute of limitations is up and that is causing him to feel free to go on israeli TV just now.
