Says she flew KLM over. If they don't want her as a customer fine. Maybe put a weight limit on their website that you have to acknowledge, like an age gateway on a website, or make you put your weight in when you buy your ticket. That way, if you don't fit their requirements, you can't even buy a ticket in the first place.

What a weird story. I can understand both sides. It's weird that she got over there no problem, but none of the airlines could accomodate her on the way back. It does, however, seem like they had to deny her because of safety restrictions (like not being able to fastern her seatbelt for example). It's not like they were like "Oh, you're too fat, GTFO." At least that's how the article seems anyway.
Also, I learned a new word:

i do this when people get on the plane with kids. Especially the really young ones that don't have to have their own seat.
Weight and child restriction limits could really be a niche market for an airline. I know I'd pay more not be bothered by someone's screaming brats. Especially when I fly over night. Right now I don't have that option.

Allowing her to board in NY, but not on the return trip is a little weird.....assuming it was a round trip on the same airline.
Still, at 425 lbs no one should be blaming others for an unexpected death.
I can see how they might have a legal case, though.

eta- if she had two seats then I don't see the problem. Her family has a pretty strong case especially if that goes in the airline's guidelines about allowing passengers of a certain size.
