| Temporary Holiday gift advice board (Posted on 11/26/12 at 6:59 am)
In the weeks leading up to Christmas I'm sure the OT will be flooded with posters seeking advice or reviews of products they are thinking of buying this holiday season. I think a temporary board like the score board would be helpful, and would stop alot of random threads from cluttering the OT,( I've already started two ) Just a thought.

If we had a board for every one that gets requested we'd have no use for the OT any more

How about a general "products discussion board" where people give reviews, and ask about what to get/where to get it/how much to pay? This could take up a lot of the technology topics and a good chunk of other random threads that pop up on the OT. Common product examples: Cars, cement, clothes, sporting equipment, phones, calculators, computers, tv's, dice, and tools.

There are countless reviews to be had on the manufacturers and/or retailers sites, not to mention sites dedicated to autos like edmunds. Since there are no boards for all aforementioned topics, they belong on the OT.

I know, that's why I never feel the need to start product related threads on here. I have no clue why so many people want input from the TD crowd instead of other review sites, but they do.

Because people value the opinions of their "friends" versus that of an "anonymous" reviewer on a website. You'd put a little more trust in the opinion of someone you have a rapport with, even if you've never actually met them.
