Have you been reading anything on the hypothesis that the sun is really a comet dashing through space dragging the planets along?
It helps explain some eccentricities in planetary orbits.
Eta: As our solar systems magnetic field interacts with other ones, the forces push and pull, altering orbits and slowing planetary orbital speed. Ie, the year is getting longer.
