Whenever someone is contemplating a tablet purchase, I ask them how they plan on using it. There is a tablet out there for just about every sort of user, so you can get something FOR YOU instead of worrying about name brands. So what do you plan to do with your tablet? If you aren't going to do more than play games, surf the web, read books, and check email, I wouldn't recommend an iPad because you can get a number of tablets that do all of that for much cheaper.

Well, which screen size do you prefer? I love the 7 inch screen size, personally, but that's because I'm on the go a lot and like something more portable. The iPad mini is nice if you want to go smaller and stay in the Apple ecosystem (full disclosure: I'm an Android guy who left the Apple world but I can see why some people prefer that environment. As I said in my other post, go with what is best FOR YOU). My brother in law got one for hia daughters primarily because it has more kid apps in their store. Again, look at how you plan on using your device before purchasing it. My wife has a Kindle Fire, and it's great for her. I wouldn't get one because it doesn't do what I need. Of course now she's thinking about getting a Surface, which again would suit her needs going forward, as she can integrate that into her business and use it when she's out with clients. I'm not too keen on the Surface for myself yet, but I haven't played with one yet, either. Just my inflation adjusted two cents.

Thanks for the input. I've always used an android environment for my phones, but I do have some familiarity with the Ipad too. I guess if I'm using it'd it be for more casual/entertainment use. I'll have to do more research.

I would get the nexus 10 or one of the ASUS transformers if you are leaning toward android I got the nexus 10 recently and it's great Google now, Chrome, latest JellyBean OS, highest resolution of any tablet.

I love my iPad and would recommend it to anyone...however, don't confuse it with a laptop replacement. Even with a Bluetooth keyboard, it doesn't do enough.

I am old and my very large medical device Co is pretty much going Apple products.. They still support IBM products but you can clearly see we are moving to Apple in a big way. I also see pretty much all of the medical device Companies I come in contact with going that way as well. It seems to be the new way of the world.

They are pretty badass. I just cant justify spending the money on a tablet when i still have a fairly new laptop. Once it dies though i will be getting a tablet. I do all of my documents & finances on my desktop so i just need it for internet surfing.

I've only seen massive praise for it except the screen.

Honestly, if you have an android phone, go with an iPad. The browsing is good, the apps are great....I never use my laptop for anything other than work. I had an iPhone but just switched to android and I'm glad I have the variety between the google play store and the App Store. I don't know why everyone says the typing sucks though. You have to peck a little but it's not a big deal. Most people don't use it to write novels.

A bluetooth keyboard makes all the difference with my ipad---I don't like pecking either....the Brookstone keyboard with leather case is really nice! worth the $85

Prefer my mini to ipad. From my experience guys like mini more than girls, which you'd think would be opposite

Didn't really get to play with one until I went home for Thanksgiving and used my moms. It's really nice and I kinda want it now. Wish I had it right now to follow fantasy football because the app is so much better than the phone.

Total pain in the arse if you dont like pecking at a virtual keyboard. I am actually interested in the Microsoft Surface that has a keyboard as the cover. Need to go play with one.

Love mine. Just got iPad 2 64 GB with Verizon 3G for $540 through Amazon. It's not worth more than that though. Find a gold deal.
