News flash. A lot of people can't find work.

And yes, we go a bit overboard in our military love. I especially have a problem with blind love.

For instance, my brother in law did ROTC. He had his college paid for, got a great living allowance while in school, so he could afford to have a nice apartment, eat well, and drink plenty of beer. Now he spends his service time living in a beach side condo in FLA. He gets overpaid, plus get's a housing and food allowance, meaning he pockets everything he makes... and he'll be blindly slobbered over the same way someone who fought in battle.

I have friends that laid down their lives in Fallujah because they were ordered not to shoot as the enemy was among civilians. No, not everybody deserves our respect that wears the uniform but we give it because of the souls that wore it before deserve that honor.

Your brother in law sounds like a tool btw

Im 100% certain that 99% of these loudmouths lack the intestinal fortitude to say any of this negative shite to a veterans face.

What a bunch of pussies.

What negative stuff is that, Kilo? Thanks.

Well, that pretty much depends on whether a Republican or Democrat is in office now, doesn't it?

He is a tool.

Are you serious with that analogy?

Those guys that were ordered not to shoot were battle soldiers.

My brother in law is a guy that never leaves a base. Get's to live in a beach side condo paid for by the tax payers. He's yet to leave this country... your analogy is just terrible.

I would respect the battle soldier that was told not to shoot, I'm not sure what point you were trying to make.

The media is desensitized too. Although now it's faceless drones commiting the atrocities. Not as interesting.

Yep, I have read this thread and the others that have been made over the last couple of days. It doesnt personally bother me but it most definitely pisses me off when I think about the friends I have lost while serving as well as the folks who were wounded.

The passive aggressive shots are tasteless. People who put on a uniform take an inherent risk regardless of personal reasons for being in the service. You want top point out individuals and knock them, I understand as there are douche bags but the blanket shots are tiresome.

I stand by my earlier statement. 99% of these people would NEVER say that to a veterans face because they are pussies.

You must be pissed Missouri got their asses kicked on national TV or something

Dude, I feel sorry for anybody that resents praise for our troops today while praising the disrespect our veterans experienced during Vietnam. Wtf is wrong with you?

Kilo, with all do respect. You are the KING of the art known as being passive aggressive. It's literally the fabric of who you are.

What blanket statement have I made? In fact, I make the opposite of blanket statements.

I've explained in this thread that don't have respect for a guy like my brother in law who lives in a beach condo and lived the high life in college on the militaries dime. I've thoroughly made a distinction between that type of soldier and the others.

And nothing else in this thread has been anything but observations of the truth, such as there was a negative perception of soldiers during and after war. Thats just observing how it was... not sure how you could have an issue with that.

Please quote me in this thread where I praised the disrespect our soldiers received during Vietnam.

and a large amount of our soldiers represented our country very poorly. Of course people weren't going to receive them kindly, I'm glad.

It's a team effort over there, not an individual one. Enough people acted badly to give the whole team a bad name.

So if we watched a football game, and 6 guys did very dirty things in a game, you'd call that a dirty team. That's a lot of dirty incidents in one game. Same holds true in this case.

Well we've certainly made up for it by now. Every military person get's their feet kissed non stop.

Mogray. You have literally been into with just about every Mizzou poster on the SECr. i see you are making friends here as well.

Call me what you want but that statement is most definitely a passive aggressive shot at Military personnel.

MEh. You will never understand because you have never walked the walk. Thats ok bro.

Rodger, what?

What you quoted are explanations for why people had the perception they did...

There were enough bad incidents reported by the media to make people think our soldiers were behaving badly.

How is this a blanket statement?

???

That is me explaining to you how it's possible the perception was created.

esp. considering they were "flower children" and peace proponents.

Did no one notice that the white Black Panther dude didn't even fight back when Forrest Gump fricked up their little party?
