What model gun is that?
Looks like maybe a Remington 700 but it hard to tell.

I hear you, could have been worse. I consider myself a very careful and deliberate hunter. Just goes to show anything can happen at anytime.

What kind of rifle? Stock replacement is easy. Just need to inspect then test fire the rifle to ensure proper function. I would do that by pull string though.

it paid off too with it being unloaded. I use to always climb loaded to cut down on noise of loading in the woods. Dumb and not worth it

anywhere from about $100 on up. I paid about $200 for a Macmillian and love it.

Deacon, check out bell and Carlson. HUGE upgrade from what you had. Think they run 200-300. Check longrangehunting.com's classified section as well as eBay. Boyd's wood stook may require fitting and finishing and can be a real job. Better tackled during the off season. I've done one and it's fun(it's also not completely finished!).

Come to think of it, is that s long action? I have a factory stock you can have if so. I would still order a replacement though.

My rifle fell out my stand this morning also while I was getting settled in. It fell over and landed straight up with the barrel stuck in the mud like a javelin. Luckily I keep a disassembled cleaning rod and some patches in my bag. Cleaned up the mud from the barrel real good and kept on hunting. Didn't see anything so I did not have to shoot. Cleaned it up real good when I got home and took a quick trip to the range. All is good. No damage. Guess I lucked out. We all need to be careful as stuff happens quick.

How sad.......that stock was nicely figured..... Is that a Winchester M70?

Deacon, I feel your pain..... I would not expect a synthetic stock to break in half like that. How old is the stock? Is it the original stock that came on the gun? If it's the original stock, I'd send Remington an email and the pic of the stock. The gun manufacturers are some of the best in any industry when it comes to honoring warranty work or replacing defective products. If Remington doesn't bite, you can always guy a new stock. Replacing/installing a new stock is an easy 5 minute project you can do yourself.
