Susan Rice Lays Blame for Misleading Statements on Intel Community

Well, that's a start. At least she's admitting that she misled the American people, something that many of us said from day 1.

quote:

Ambassador Susan Rice has finally explained, in her opinion, why she misled the country about what happened during the September 11 terror attack against Americans in Benghazi, Libya. According to Rice, all the blame should be given to the intelligence community for her misleading comments made five days after the attack, since she was just repeating what they had told her.

A reporter asked, the American ambassador to the United Nations, "Ambassador Rice, would you explain your view of the controversy concerning your comments about Benghazi? And have—is Senator McCain fair in what he has said?"

"As a senior US diplomat, I agreed to a White House request to appear on the Sunday shows to talk about the full range of national security issues of the day, which at that time were primarily and particularly the protests that were enveloping and threatening many diplomatic facilities—American diplomatic facilities—around the world and Iran’s nuclear program. The attack on Benghazi—on our facilities in Benghazi—was obviously a significant piece of this," Rice explains.

"When discussing the attacks against our facilities in Benghazi, I relied solely and squarely on the information provided to me by the intelligence community.

Wait, I'm confused... Maybe I have missed something.

So the "intelligence community" took the terrorism portion out of the statements, thats pretty easy... But did THEY put in the bull shite line about the Youtube video?

Were talking apples and oranges here. Its one thing to omit something, but to add bull shite in is another thing.

You don't read so well do you? The word misled was the authors not Rice's. All she said was she gave the info she was provided.

The White House and Rice are trying to pass off some BS about "CIA talking points."

Since when does the CIA provide talking points? The CIA provides raw intelligence data and opinions based on that data. Talking points are the realm of politicians.

As for the CIA raw data, no one in the media seems to remember this, but Obama missed all of his intel briefings in the week before the 9/11 embassy attack. Does that seem like a relevant fact to you? It does to me.

I know having knowledge isnt necessary on this board, but intelligence provides talking points all of the time. DNI has said that they provided the info and they took out the piece about al Qaeda because it was based on classified sources.

As to your idiotic idea that Obama didn't attend intelligence briefings, Obama like many other presidents reads his daily briefings sometimes and doesn't always have a live briefer. That doesn't mean he didnt know what was going on. This is something bush, Clinton, and Reagan all did as well.

I don't believe you are correct. They provide raw data and opinions based on that data.

Tallking points are for public consumption. That comes from the politicians.

No, they did not. The White House changed it because it didn't fit Obama's narrative that he had obliterated Al Quaeda, as he and several dems mentioned just a few days earlier in their speeches at the Dem Party National Convention.
Besides, what is so "classified" about Al Quaeda, since we've been fighting them for the past 11 years?

If a source was classified, just say that the incident is under investigation. Don't come up with a cover story.

All Susan Rice did was double down on the big lie.
After her latest statement, its obvious she is as comtemptable of the American people as her bosses are.
Don't think it would have made any difference in the election though. Folks who are on the gov't dole wouldn't have changes their votes for MR as long as Barry keeps the give aways going.
"America" is a done deal.
Jefferson said it best..."the republic will cease to exist when we take away from those willing to work, and give to those who would not".

re: Susan Rice Lays Blame for Misleading Statements on Intel Community

So exactly why do we have a State Department if all they do is spout the intelligence community line? Can't we just eliminate the State Department if they actually do nothing except act as spokespersons for intelligence?

quote:

When discussing the attacks against our facilities in Benghazi, I relied solely and squarely on the information provided to me by the intelligence community.
I guess the State Department had to since all of their people in Benghazi were dead. Wouldn't a senior US diplomat, requested by the White House, to use her own words, be expected to have some input from the Defense Department given the lack of response to requests for assistance? Wouldn't a senior US diplomat be provided with classified information and be told why it was necessary to withhold that information? If not, wouldn't you hope a senior US diplomat would be smart enough to figure out she was being sent on a fools errand?

So much Beaucracy, you won't have to take responsibility for anything anymore as an Official. Unless it benefits you.
