Interesting thoughts....Arizona st in 04 is one if we lost might have never recovered. Bowl wins and also maybe Oregon last year...solidified us as top 3 program and helped start 13-0.

Fall his way? Did you watch that game? JL was picked off in the Tennessee end zone on a 1st and goal at their 10. JJ was picked off at the Tennessee 35 and LSU 35. Peterson fumbled at the Vol 28 and we missed a FG. And that's what you call having good luck.

Well, considering the word pivotal to mean turning a corner/making a change, I would go with winning the 2010 season opener against UNC in the GA Dome. We had just come out of a disappointing 9-4 year with a loss to Penn St in the Cap One Bowl and there was a lot of anticipation in the air for that season. That win I think turned the corner for ole Lester. Second place would go to the season opener win on the road against UW to start the 2009 season. We got rid of the Maleveto defense that helped us finish 2008 with 5 losses. The only reason I put this one behind 2010, is we still hadn't quite turned the corner (hence the 9-4 year with a loss in the bowl game).

I am going to be a little different, but the Cotton Bowl win against A&M. We rode that momentum into the next season, going on a freaking tear. Too bad we couldn't finish it out, though.

Florida 2007, maybe his best coaching performance against Tebow and Urban Meyer. That win put us as the front runners for the national championship.
i agree with this. also, if we lose that game, we'd have 3 losses ...no shot at sneaking in NC game

2005 was his first year.

2006 AU was pivotal in that the most talented roster in LSU football history failed to win its division due to conservative play calling and bought refs. Win that game, it's quite possible LSU goes on to play Ohio St in the NC game.

Without a doubt, Tennessee, 2010.
Yep. The boo that was unleashed in Tiger Stadium after the last timed play was deep and intense. It felt like the beginning of the end for Les Miles. But, UT forgot how to count, and the Miles era took a turn for the better after that play.

Had Miles lost that Tenn game due to poor time management--the second time in as many years to a vast underdog--he'd have had a hard time recovering from it. A lot of people forget the tremendous doubt around Les then. I still feel he hasn't made the most of the talent he's had, but many here will disagree.

Well pre-melt down against Bama a few weeks ago, I said this would be his most pivotal win...oh well, so much for that. Otherwise, 2007 Florida created the Mad Hatter as a national coach..
