I would like to invite every one of you (including you crazy libs  ) to come see our Christmas Light Show. This year we will have about 55k lights running on 128 channels. If you have young children it is worth driving over to Dutchtown to see.
We live on Mill Grove Dr. in Gonzales, 70737. The show runs every night from now until January 2 with the only exception being that if it is raining we can't run it. We are also going to be collecting monetary donations to support St. Jude Children's hospital if you feel like dropping a few bucks in the box.

It does not go up at all. The air conditioning is running a lot less and those lights are all LEDs.
The real money is spent on 100s of strands of lights and the electronics to run the show.

Very cool. You must plan this all year. How does one become educated in how to put this together and where does one buy all this at wholesale?

I would guess that buying all the lights the day after Christmas is the way to go. You can probably get that stuff 60-70 percent off.

It is definitely a year round hobby. If you want to learn more go to planetchristmas.com. I don't buy any lights from retail outlets. The vast majority of what they sell is crap. We buy our lights from LED warehouse online and from these guys Christmas-leds.com

We broadcast the music over a FM radio transmitter and have outdoor speakers. We keep rhe volume reasonable and I'm lucky to have some great neighbors.
I'm not an electrical engineer at all. We use a product called light-o-rama to control the lights.
