| If you could have the National Debt cancelled (Posted on 11/22/12 at 6:44 am)
and give a better future to your kids and grand kids but it could only happen in exchange for your life, would you make that sacrifice?

No, because congress would just see this as a blank slate. The debt would be worse than it is now in 10 years. The national debt isn't the problem. Our political system is the problem.

Surely if we could start over with a clean slate it would take more than ten years to get back in the same mess?

But that would be a fun ten years.. What's one life anyway. We kill our own citizens and ambassadors. Do they count.. No one else seems to care.

According to the Dems the budget was nearly balanced under Bill Clinton. I'm not trying to start that argument again, but lets say it was minimal. Clinton left office in 2001. It would be even worse than that now if congress had the idea that killing some Polly Ranter could absolve them of budgetary restraint. Not that they have any sense of budgetary restraint now!

But it wouldn't cost some random person his life, it would cost yours.

Obama did more damage in 4 years than all the previous years of our country's existence. Imagine what he will do in 4 more, much less 10 if he could!

What amazes me is that there is little outrage over the way our budget is handled!

There may have been a balanced budget that produced a surplus for a year, but the budget did not erase or eliminate the national debt. Period. End of distortion.

Hell no. You miss the entire purpose of life, Rev. The only reason mankind is here is so that God can experience sensation. So we must have conflict or there is no point to life. Do you read books or see movies that have zero conflict? No. It wouldn't be worth reading/watching. The national debt is something we have to deal with. There are no quick fixes. There ain't no Santa Claus.

If I could forever remove religion from politics AND abolish the debt AND abolish racist attitudes (on all sides) sure, take me today. Would be a better life for my kids if blacks voted on character and in their best interest instead of by color and what they can get for free.

OK, since it's a hypothetical I'll take the deal and give up the remainder of my life to wipe out the debt with one addition to the hypothetical. All programs which transfer wealth will end forever. No Soc. Sec, no welfare, no medicaid, no disability, no food stamps, no grants for the arts, no educ funding for the poor and stupid. NOTHING. That is the only way the debt will not return to it's present level. And I don't think it would take 10 years for the debt to reach 16T. More like 10 months.

I'm laughing at your ignorance of the difference between a deficit and a debt. Don't feel bad. The vast majority of Americans don't know the difference.

no way, b/c it would just have them go crazy if the balance sheet was brought to 0. it wouldn't solve anything our society has a public spending addiction. you only can deal with addiction when you hit rock bottom and realize you have a problem

I would gladly sacrifice all elected politicians at the federal level who truly created this economic mess.

I was clearly talking about the budget being balanced. I didn't say anything about the deficit in that statement. Just trying to say that they had a balanced budget at that point. Since that point they have more than doubled the national debt in just over 10 years. Thus pointing out that even if you zero out the deficit without balanced budgets congress will have the deficit right back where it is in no time! Please keep you useless judgedments on my intelligence to your self. You have no idea who I am or what I know.
