Realistically, how many of the claims are Sandy related??? Claims were way higher than predicted last week and they had Sandy figured into projections. This time the number hit projections right on the head, so one would think the Sandy factor blew its load last week.

Just wait till after the first of the year. Right now you should see an influx of part time jobs due to the coming holiday shopping season, but once that is over, and coupled with ACA taxes.....

Don't storms create jobs? Billions coming in for construction kept Louisiana and took the Great Recession longer to hit here. Basically, election is over and no need to cook the books.

Only going to go up once the holidays are over. Seasonal jobs ending and layoffs coming after the holidays due to Obamacare.

Holy shit, that's what it was revised up to? So analyst missed by over 60k??? There is NO way unemployment stays below 8.5% on the next report.

Eh. Seems like for every 10k added to unemployment the unemployment rate only goes up .00000000001 but for every 10K that find a job it goes down .1. They will make it work.

We need an elf immigration measure quickly to keep the rate down.

Well the number never dropped below 340k in the 2 months that it dropped from near 9 all the way down... We were averaging about 360-370k for the past few years, it would only seem right that two weeks of +80k and +40k would send that number skyrocketing up

Happy Thanksgiving America! Oh, and those of you working hourly part-time jobs - enjoy your new 29 hour limit! Budget wisely. Thanks Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Roberts, and Landrieu!

Problem with going forward long enough. In Obamas case he is back where he started.

People in LA should be familiar with unemployment during a major storm. NY and NJ lost business throughout the state. When you can't go to work through no fault of your own I.e. a major storm, you receive unemmployment. As those states start to rebuild the claims will drop. Stop watching Fox news!

Sandy had virtually nothing to do with last week's numbers. CT, NJ, and NY accounted for about 5k combined of the 70k-80k sequential increase in claims.
