What is fundamentally "evil" about communism IYO?

Been reading up a lot about 20th century history, and the bits about the October Revolution, WWII's Hitler v. Stalin component, and the Cold War got me wondering about the Poliboard's views on the fundamental problems with communism.

Go.

The lack of freedom seems to be a big issue.

it removes one of our most basic freedoms: our freedom to own property and do with it what we wish

Ignores the fact that altruism doesn't exist.

Killing tens of millions for political power should be a good starting point.

There are no inherent evils about it. However, there's 0 chance in hell it would ever come close to working on a practical note. 0.

Of course it would be nice to have a prefect society where nobody is poor and everybody is happy but in the futile pursuit of it, mistakes are made and freedom tends to be lost.

People in power never have and never will be able to humble themselves to the level of those they rule over.

It's not evil so much as it is stupid. It ignores the very nature of man.

That would be a matter of opinion. Reasonable people could believe the state (as represented by a minority political party) having complete control of society is inherently evil.

It goes against human nature.. We are ingrained with selfishness. It's in our DNA.

The basic premise of communism is the people work for the greater good of the community and not for the individual. You sacrifice your own personal benefit for the sake of the groups benefit .

People are inherently hedonistic and so communism will never succeed. It's not evil just stupid.

Do you think we have that now in the United States?

The problem with communism is that it is incompatible with human nature.

I think you are referring to a state of authoritarian socialism. In true, pure, communism there is no state at all.

I don't think the abolition of property rights is, in itself, inherently "evil". I think the means (repressive state apparatus, redistribution, destruction of individual freedom) is whats fundamentally evil.

Ironically, all governments do this to a certain extent, so maybe all governments are "evil".

You mean, besides silencing faith, killing off political opposition, destroying the human spirit, liberty, the free market, hope for man to better his condition, and generally being a steaming pile of rotten shite on the planet?.

Oh nothing.

Where has this existed?

How does the State actually wither away after it has assumed all power.

I'm writing of Communism that existed not whatever is in your mind.

Actually, maybe we need some clarification from the OP. Are we talking about theory or what happened in the 20th century?

If the latter, then the OP just asked a clown question.
