I know most of the programs in N La that have been mentioned have great strength and conditioning programs. I wonder if that could be the difference?
I think this is the most improtant factor. It is a big deal in North LA. I wonder how they handle the summer workouts down there as well? Im not sure the players buy in as much. There is just not much else to do here in the North.

[quote]How serious do S La. teams take strength and conditioning? [/quote.. can't answer for all schools but I know at my kid's school it's take pretty friggin serious for football and baseball.. in fact I think one of the coaches wrote a book on it... as for the other sports - no idea..... I know at 3 schools in BR area that are still playing it is taken pretty seriously.. and at Curtis it is akin to religion...

You are right on that one. We havent faired to well against the Catholic boys. My freshman year we had Rummel 20-7 at halftime and they came back and beat us. I know that there are some exceptions down there as far as the Strength and Conditioning goes.See JC, Rummel, ect.. What shcool does your son play at?

surely you're not using West Monroe and Neville in an argument about Ouachita? or a long time period when this year's seniors were freshmen in 2009? Rummel's by far the better team, and if they don't leave with the W, it will be an upset we talk about for years to come

owl.. I am talking about over the long haul..... ouchita parish schools.. have an overwhelming winning record vs the catholic league... keep in mind... Ouchita was playing some awfully good football in the late 80s and early 90s as well... if another new olreans team gets beat up north they will talk about it in Nola for years to come but not in monroe.... I can name 4-5 games right now where ouchita parish teams beat highly touted Nola teams and the only people stunned were people from new olreans. owl have you seen ouchita play?

Had a guy on kenramsey a few years ago do a really thorough statistical analysis of this question. He factored in the population difference, titles etc. It came out to be 50/50 everything considered.

If he had STM in there, then ND would have to be included. They are separated by 20 miles.

Definitely. I thought y'all meant like dirty teams I didn't take it as in the best teams. But STM should not even be included as they have never even been to the dome.

You're forgetting Acadiana and Carencro, although Carencro hasn't been consistent since Mac Barousse left

Football teams with mandatory summer workout programs at the school are pretty much the norm these days. Hasn't always been that way. You have schools in EBR School system whose kids can't get rides because they are bused in during the school year.

I'm telling you...don't sleep on Ouachita. They are HUGE and have 2 WR that will sign with BCS Schools. Factor in Thanksgiving holidays and a 5 hour bus ride...I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ouachita wins. In fact I'm choosing to be on the sidelines for this game instead of my usual seats at WM. Quarterfinals is the round where the upsets happen... ETA: Taijun Thomas is committed to Stanford not Sims. Sims is big time though.

Is that kind of hush-hush? I don't see his commitment on any of the recruiting services.

This thread led me to googled LHSAA state title winners over the years. my mind is blown with some of the schools at the top. I had no idea about Haynesville winning that many titles. Good topic
