I think permanents have been stupid for a while. I noticed way back in the 90's how unfair it was that we played Florida every year and Bama played Vanderbilt. Espescially now that we have moved to 7 teams per division. Perma's need to go. Move Bama and Aubie to the fricking east if they want Bama UT and Aubie/UGA so bad. Before 92, Auburn had much bigger rivalries with all the east teams anyway except for Bama.

I agree with you in principle, but Ok State had a much tougher schedule than bama last year and we know how that worked out for them. The annual cross division rivals need to go. But we still should beat whoever ends up on our schedule if we want crystal.

Maybe the same thing will happen to Muschamp one year and the roles will be reversed
muschamp had both lsu and a&m this year and he passed the test. barely in both cases. it was jff's first college game and we had a ton of injuries. uf couldn't beat either team today. BUT, in most years, having 2 weak cross divisional games will be the edge needed to go to atlanta. it would be ok if things were rotated but as it is bama is skating and will continue to skate.

Yes, the fact that Oregon and K St are still above us and ND number one shows how little strength of schedule matters. Bama could have lost to us and still got in, but we won't because we lost one to Florida. Florida being one of several potential losses we had on our ridiculous schedule.

You do realize that you have 2 losses and all the other teams have just 1 right? You are also the first 2 loss team in the rankings, and no one that you have beat is ahead of you.

Wtf? That is the point of the thread gump. Alabama would have two losses if they didn't play tenn and mizzu. For the love of god, are you that dumb? Bama played two quality teams this year and was not the best team on the field in either game.

Yes, just like you curbstomped JFF right? Oh, wait. The point is wins/losses matter much more than who you play. LSU loses a close game to Florida on the road and a close game at home to Bama. K St gets blown out by an unranked team. K St stays ahead of LSU. Playing all cupcakes and one tough team gives you a much better shot. Congrats on the schedule Bama. Interestingly though the argument was flipped last year to get Bama in. I suppose you disagree with that right?

Can you think of one other instance in all of sports where one of the most important factors in who wins their own division is based on who they play and when? That is odd enough in itself, but add to that the schedule is determined by somebody else (conference) who has determined that in place of an equitable schedule there should be 2 games that nobody outside of the 4 teams involved really gives a shite about. Am I complaining? Maybe, but just think how silly it would sound if, in any other sport, you stated that you need to play another team not in your division, every year, and it would count as a conference game, andd you demanded it even though that team is clearly inferior to other conference opponents. Division 1 football will forever have that stigma as long as when you look at which teams will be in the hunt for a championship you look at two things equally 1) returning players and 2) who they play. That's not 'unique' - that's 'peculiar'.

You 2 need to back away until next season. If you had an equal amount of losses you would be ahead of them, you might even have stayed in front of them depending on when you all lost. For the other poster, yea I can it's called the NFL.

This. I grew up following SEC football, and I surely never knew about these so-called rivalries. The Gumps versus the Vols? Give me a freaking break. I like the idea that if they are so determined that these game have to be played, and are somehow bigger rivalries than OSU and Michigan, then put them all in the same division. Problem solved.

If we hadn't played like crap against UF and managed to win, the strong schedule helps us. I like the stronger schedule. We just need to be better prepared than we were for the first half of the season. It's hard to go undefeated regardless of the schedule when you don't play well. I would rather lose to UF than UK.
^^^^THIS ^^^^^ Just win baby.

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous right there and the SEC offices need to be moved from Tuscaloosa, I mean Birmingham, immediately!!!!

Boys, we dont even have enough balls to stand up to having out thanksgiving game on Saturday instead of Friday. We(SEC)keep letting Bama play on Saturday vs Auburn and you think we gonna make this shite change?? ya ok

Alabama with another SEC east cakewalk this year.
Tennessee has more SECCs than everyone but Alabama. Before Saban, UT had beaten UA the last 10 out of 12 games. I bet y'all had no problem with UT being UA's permanent cross divisional rival then. And not for nothing but UT's record against LSU is 20-9-3. Florida didn't win a SECC until 1991. They were chumps before Spurrier got there. So man up and quit whining.

The gumps will tell you they dont like the fact that we get a by before playing them every year. which would you prefer: Two weeks to prepare for bama every year or play an easier schedule.
