Kite string and a stick, did it plenty of time as a kid shooting woodies on a bayou. Kite string is cheap and easy to pack, sticks are everywhere.

I used to shoot woodies on my dad's pond. It wasn't too much of a hassle to hang them with a spinner bait and reel them in. I guess it depends on how far of a cast you would have to make. For me it was never more than about 20 yards.

Get yourself a cheap remote control boat and fashion some type of push on the front. Run it out there. Push ducks to bank. ???????? Profit????
This may not be the most practical idea, but it would definitely be the most fun.

Didn't someone make a thread about a duck retriever like that. It looked like a decoy.

100% agree with this. I hunt the River where I live and I am in the same situation as you (no boat or dog). I use a extremely large spook lure. All you have to do is cast it somewhere near the duck and walk where the line will go over it. The hook will catch it and you can pull it to the shore.

Somebody posted a remote controlled boat on here that was specifically for retrieving ducks. It had treble hooks sticking off the sides of it or something and you just run it into the duck, hook on, bring it back to you. You could do that with a cheap one. Here you go. Hundred yard range and powerful and cheap. LINK

I bought a poke boat out of the back of DU Magazine for this purpose. 27# or so, easy to carry anywhere.

I can't get back out till after this weekend. Maybe, maybe Sunday, but that would be an afternoon hunt.

Shoot em when the wind is in your face and just wait for em to float on over. Maybe a net if you don't want to get your hands wet.

The bayou is pretty big and protected by trees on both sides, I don't think they would blow on over. I guess I will pack my speck rod and a spook (the fishing bait - not whatever else you were thinking).
