kinda msb but if this point doesn't known I think we'll see a continuing avalanche of "Didja hear what ______ said" threads http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2012-articles/november/espn-s-journalistic-integrity-coming-under-close-examination.html

Is it just me or is Jay Glazer becoming one of the best sports journalists in America?

Read it all Blu. Still sane and productive today. Glad to know we are not alone in our views of espn. Enjoyed the comments section as well.

Thanks for sharing Blues Journalism has died, period! After what I have seen with the "Bounty-gate" and the election coverage this year I can tell you that not too many people care about finding out the facts. But it is the majority of the viewers fault and this proves it...

Maybe we're to blame. Maybe if we watched more Outside the Lines than First Take, maybe if we supported the more ambitious pieces at Grantland or from ESPN The Magazine, maybe if Bob Ley had more Twitter followers than Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith, maybe if we actually turned the channel when ESPN did talk Tebow, things would be different.

agree, and found the parallel of sports and political reporting to be an indictment of the direction of today's culture. it's like the whole world is turning into tmz the movie Idiocracy might be off in that outlook being 500 years off

ESPN is all about money. They don't really care if they have to stoop to lower standards to continue to attract an audience. They are a global empire that prints its own money. They are succeeding despite what some would call a degeneration in quality. If the public ever demands an alternative sports network, one will surface. The public just hasn't reached that point yet... and it could be a long way away.

- PTI started, i thought "oh thats kind of cool" - then they start airing debate segments on NFL live and the nfl portions of sportscenter - then they do the same with the NBA - then they launch ATH as a lead in to PTI. by the end of a 6 month period, a product i loved (and i fricking loved espn in the 90s) was destroyed. I didn't stick around for skip bayless, i was done when they had woody paige.

I dont want to watch 6 guys have the same arguments i have with my friends on a daily basis. Those two shows dont break news, dont add any journalism, and dont really serve a purpose. Its like watching a bad sitcom. BUt they need to fill 24hrs a day of programming, and i suppose it could be worse. I like ATH better than PTI honestly.

I don;t take ESPN seriously simply cause they continue to employ Skip Bayless. the fact they keep him working, shows me they are going Full Retard.

Not only employ, but they seem to be featuring him more and more. Which is just insane.

I just remember thinking the debate segment was cool to have since I had a free period at the time, but I never imagined the "embrace debate" bull shite that defines the networks programming The only good thing I can say about espn is mike tirico and SVP (who is woefully underutilized) I did like max kellerman because he brought energy to the segment but god do I fricking hate this show. I would still like pTI if it weren't for over saturating the programming with debate

bayless was brought in as a common sense counter to woody paige and then he just transformed over a period of months into woody paige on fricking steroids. sad thing is, he was a top sports journalist before he came to espn i remember stephen a when he first got his tv break on the best damn sports show period, he was awful then and that (hard to believe) was almost 15 years ago bayless isn't the problem, the viewers are the problem, but espn should still have had the balls to deliver what they had been for so long and have some fricking integrity the picture of tebow and lin encapsulates the whole mess. MNF when the saints play and that is literally the only time I watch espn. Every so often i forget what it has become and turn it on only to switch the channel in about 20 seconds

But, PTI never attempted to hide what they are. They in fact were very specific about it. Its when, one day, you had sportscenter on in the background and thought PTI was on that it became a problem. Sports reporting should always be legit.
