Do you have to have a jacked up name to be a psychiatrist? Felch, Saliva, Gooch...

No, just an equally disturbed psyche. One of my original docs was busted for stealing from his own medicine closet. Lost his license I believe. Really weird dude.

What's that saying about if you think there's something wrong with everyone then you're probably the problem? Shouldn't be hard to find a psychiatrist to treat this, usually starts with SSRIs. It's not that complex a disorder as say bipolar or schizophrenia

Also a lot of times psychiatrists aren't taking new patients and the ones that are take forever to get in to see You might just start calling ones on your insurance and asking if they are taking new patients and how long for an appointment ETA she can always change if she's not happy

Some of y'all might laugh at me or not take me seriously but cannabis could help her calm down, unwind, and relax. Psychiatrists are aware of the mental benefits of cannabis consumption but they're all whores for the pharmaceutical companies. I'm very high strung and i know it helps my mental well being and is a big reason why i've never been arrested or physically harmed anybody. It calms me down.

Mental healthcare in LA is laughably sad.

I actually needed none of them. I quit going, took my meds, learned to control a lot of it on my own. I now take nothing and just DWI. Not at all recommending the no meds route for anyone else. If you feel like you need help, go get it.

Ehhh it's picking up. New cancer center in NOLA. Some pretty good docs here. But yea, mental healthcare is largely a joke.

I definitely agree that bipolar is 1000x worse than OCD. I at least have the ability to regulate myself to some degree. Every bipolar person I've ever known is bat shite crazy even on meds and in therapy. I feel SO sorry for them (and the people around them). They can never have a normal life no matter how hard they try. It's very, very sad.

How much did you take? I have taken .25mgs twice daily for like 12 years and it has done nothing but improve my life,

don't usually counsel, just diagnose and prescribe treatment, is Flechas a psychologist?
Flechas is a psychiatrist. Don't know if he does therapy or mostly medication management. He has a good reputation. Carol Murphy is a psychiatrist and actually spend a lot of time providing therapy. That plus the fact she is a woman is why I would recommend her here.

Sure is- there are only a handful of decent doctors in the major cities. There are some psychiatrists out there crazier than their patients.

Had bad anxiety in college, thought I was going crazy. Once I realized about 20% of the population dealt with same crazy thoughts I did, felt 100% better and anxiety went away. There's comfort in shared misery! Still fill my klonopin every July, it's my safety valve, but I don't use a months script worth in a years time. Also acupuncture is amazing, everyone should do acupuncture. I'm also in the"diet can help" crowd Have her thyroid checked. TD is amazing for anxiety. I'd suspect many posters here use this as a stress relief tool for different mental reasons. Ranting is a blessing!

I had depression of varying severity off and on for 30 years. What finally worked for me was an analyst who had a shrink in her group that prescribed something or other that worked enough to let me consider what the analyst was saying. It was on the up and up. I have always been wary of analysts, thinking they'd string you along if they could to get more money out of you. This lady just up and said "I don't think we have any more need to talk" after a couple or 3 months so we stopped and I have been way better off ever since. Unfortunately this was in Dallas but you might consider the experience and ask if the two in concert might be of some help, maybe do like I ended up doing and have 2 people working on it so you have a second opinion built in.
