My wife needs one. She's got OCD / anxiety issues. I'm probably going to get shite for asking this on the OT, but any real help would be greatly appreciated. She knows she has issues and that they are interfering with her life, so she wants go see a psychiatrist.

Does she take meds? Xanax really does wonders for anxiety and allows you to function normally.

Good for her if she recognizes this and wants help, that's more than half the battle. The shrink diagnoses the prob and prescribes meds if necessary, the psychologist counsels. Huge diff.

Anti anxiety pills react different to different people, so suggesting one as the best is simply irresponsible

Good and psychiatrist and BR don't really all belong on the same sentence. But, I have severe OCD and have seen different docs over the years. Most were crazier than me. Enrique Flechas is the best I could find.

Oh no, no, no. frick a therapist. Those people are certifiable. Seen many of those, too. Crazy mofos. Go to a psychiatrist, get on meds, learn to regulate what you can yourself.

I don't think that meds are the first answer. Talk through some issues and see if that will help the improvement of mental. Too many people are too quick to pop a pill for anything wrong in.the world.

As someone who has been on nearly every anti depressant and anti anxiety medicine out there, do NOT try to just go and get on meds first. It's the worst thing you could do.

My OCD is SEVERE. No family doc would ever prescribe the meds I needed to get it under control.
ETA: the OP's wife may need therapy. Just didn't do a damn thing for me but waste money. Meds were the only thing that helped me.

Flechas is very good and as a doctor I refer to him. GO SEE a Psychiatrist please, as most cases of OCD and/or anxiety will not be cured with therapy as that genie is tough to put back in the bottle in adults who have had issues for decades.
