re: Do any of you want to see Romney run again?

quote:

In the face of that BS, the GOP forwarded its weakest slate of Candidates perhaps ever. Out of his horrible field, Romney was the only candidate with any chance. He knew that. His campaign knew that. As unbelievable as it sounds, he and his campaign basically approached the election as an inevitable win. Very much like Dewey vs Truman.

Even in the 1st week of September trailing 7-9pts, they felt the election was in the bag. The Romney strategy was to tread water until the debates. Just not to make mistakes. Again the campaign was very cocky about Romney winning those Debates. When he crushed Obama in the first one, they lightened up.

By the 3rd debate they were back in the Dewey we've-got-this-in-the-bag mode. They decided to use an untried "high-tech" GOTV software program figuring it would push their electoral result from ~282 to >310. Then came Sandy. Then came the GOTV software crash early on election day.

The Romney group was so cocky, so sure of themselves that they never even considered a GOTV back up. When their software crashed, they left 30,000 GOP election day workers completely stranded. Probably cost 2%, +7-10 Congressional seats, and perhaps the election.

Someone like that does not deserve a second chance.

Well this was an interesting post.

Seriously, if this is remotely accurate, what an epic frick up on the Romney Campaign's part. I imagine whoever was in charge of running the Romney campaign won't be getting another job running a major campaign.

I hope the republicans will learn from this and apply the lessons learned along with giving us a great candidate instead of the lame ones we've been getting for a while.

Lesson here: you have to be "batman paranoid" when running a campaign on a national level.

No to running again. He could not get his message across, and he sat back and allowed himself to be attacked without a fight.

Don't know about this board but the Democrats would be fine with it.

A GOTV software crash cost Mitt the election? Really?

Which Republican voters were not aware of this election a long time ago, including the opportunity for early voting?

That sounds a bit hypocritical from the party of "personal responsibility."

I haven't heard about the software crash that cost Mitt the election.

It was supposed to be a "killer app," but a system deployed to volunteers by Mitt Romney's presidential campaign may have done more harm to Romney's chances on Election Day—largely because of a failure to follow basic best practices for IT projects.

Called "Orca," the effort was supposed to give the Romney campaign its own analytics on what was happening at polling places and to help the campaign direct get-out-the-vote efforts in the key battleground states of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Iowa, and Colorado.

Instead, volunteers couldn't get the system to work from the field in many states—in some cases because they had been given the wrong login information. The system crashed repeatedly. At one point, the network connection to the Romney campaign's headquarters went down because Internet provider Comcast reportedly thought the traffic was caused by a denial of service attack.

As one Orca user described it to Ars, the entire episode was a "huge clusterfrick." Here's how it happened.

i don't think this cost him the election, but it sure didn't help him

Romney was def not the choice for a number of Conservatives as demonstrated by turnout on election day.

A lot of people fell in line because it was their only option and I don't think there is any way that he could win the nomination again.

Too many up and comers will be of "Age" for the 2016 cycle.

Rubio and Rand will be forces to recon with. Although, if the dems run Hillary, I don't think either can win.

Romney was the lesser of two evils. You think the Hillary folks liked voting for Obama after he stole the primaries from them? STOLE. No, but they support their party. That make them "hacks"?

Romney was the establishment Republican choice. The country clubbers. Pick a moderate and he will be sure to win. Yet he was still called an "extremist" by the left.
