| Denny's Price Increase and Labor Cutback (Posted on 11/15/12 at 10:25 am)
No talk of it yet? I can't link it because I'm on my phone, but it's a dailymail story that is on drudge right now. Owner of 40 Denny's is increasing prices by 5% and cutting back hours to < 30 to compensate for Obamacare. I figured this would be already posted

Denny's Chain owner has to increase his fees and reduce employee hours.
quote:
Obamacare requires businesses or franchises with more than 50 workers must offer an approved insurance plan or pay a penalty of $2,000 for each full-time worker over 30 workers. The program mandates that only employees working more than 30 hours a week are covered under their employers health insurance plan, chains like Olive Garden and Red Lobster are already considering reduced worker hours. 'Obviously, I'd love to cover all our employees under that insurance,' said Metz. 'But to pay $5,000 per employee would cost us $175,000 per restaurant and unfortunately, most of our restaurants don't make $175,000 a year. I can't afford it.'

Just more evidence that we are headed toward a single-payer/government controlled healthcare system. Obamacare basically leads businesses into dropping healthcare for their employees or simply by using part-time employees for whom they are not required to provide healthcare. The net effect will be an even worse employment environment.

People are idiots. Most of the people who voted for him are the same ones who will be screwed over the next few years, don’t feel bad for them at all. What sucks is that I will be screwed also despite of my vote

Wal Mart has been doing this for years. People will be more dependent on the Govt if this continues.

How does this equal this?

Why doesn't he just pay the $2000 penalty for each worker over 30?

Because he is still restrained by his businesses P&L at the end of the year. A simple concept to grasp. Broke company closes its door, and everybody loses as a result, that is what spreading the misery rather than wealth looks like. Welcome to the state of Nirvana caused by the re-election of the Idiot In Chief.

Because he can reduce their hours like he is planning to do and not pay anything?

You thank Jindal and several other Republican governors for helping us get there faster.

Like the other places said it'd be $70,000 increase per store. This is what happens when you put a community organizer in charge. ObamaBots say... He's greedy. Show picture of his house. Boycott.

The penalty is incremental and rises each year.
