Absolutely. No ship in the navy would have that consistent schedule. They may have that as part of a deployment. That's something we all have to accept though as part of the military. To the best of my knowledge no ship would have a regular duty rotation of gone half the year though. The reason for that is that it's too much to ask of them.

It's sad how because of policies governing everything how far we've moved from the actual point of education. Than again, this could be said for the majority of things in the states these days.

Our education system is scary fricked up straight down to its foundation. The bad teachers who teach kids facts and how to take a test are patted on the back while the great human beings who strive to connect with their students and teach them how to think, solve problems and question the status quo are admonished and handcuffed.
This occurs to the point where a truly talented, gifted and intelligent young person struggles because they don't fit into the mold of mediocrity that our society calls a "good student".
It's a damn shame that we must strive for mediocrity and that there is absolutely nothing the truly great teachers can do about it.

Both LE and teachers also get nice pensions, and it doesn't matter much how good they are at their jobs. So, yes, some of them are underpaid but some of the bozos are overpaid too.

Only the market can determine what these people are worth so for any of us to say they are underpaid or overpaid is ridiculous. The words underpaid and overpaid are usually used by people who can't produce and are jealous of those that can.
