We'd get rolled most likely by any of the top 5.
Best we could have hoped for was making it to the Rose Bowl, and we'd probably still get rolled.
And Big10 is not even close to the 3rd best conference.

He also decided a month of practice under Luke Fickel is more important than a month of practice under Urban Meyer.

If we self imposed a bowl ban and the NCAA did nothing more people would be screaming that we got a slap on the wrist and how the NCAA and OSU are in bed together. If they went ahead and imposed an additional year bowl ban then we're in the same situation.
It's a fricking no win situation.
Tressell fricked up and we deserve to be punished, and this is just an unfortunate byproduct but it is what it is.

This. Also add in the fact we would be eviscerated by any team we played in the BCSNC this year. I do miss the chance for another month of practice though.
