Which coach would you rather have for the next 10 years? (Posted on 11/17/12 at 11:11 pm)
David Shaw or Kevin Sumlin? Both men have beaten top ranked teams on the road the last two weeks. Shaw wins game with a pro-style offense with a rugged running game and great defense. Sumlin is a spread guy who does a great job adapting his style to his personnel. Who is the better coach and who would you rather have coach your favorite team?

I think Shaw is the better coach but I would rather have Sumlin because coming from the vast Stoops coaching tree he'll probable be able to reload on assistants. Shaw probable won't have that luxury.

Until I see these flashy college gimmick offenses consistently beating teams that have solid ground and pound run games with a stout defense, I'd take Shaw over Sumlin.
It works sometimes, but you look at teams like Oregon that can't beat an SEC team, and they certainly can't even beat the team in their own conference with the best defense.
Not saying Sumlin isn't one of the best coaches, I think he is, but I fully expect Manziel to have a much rougher time next year with all the film on him if A&M doesn't develop another dimension on offense.
