re: Whiskey question

quote:

People that buy expensive whiskey do so because they enjoy the flavor of the whiskey, and want to drink it by itself or with a splash of water. If you're pouring coke in your whiskey it doesn't really matter the quality of the whiskey, it will basically taste like an alcoholic coke

Yep. This guy gets it.

Crown Royal Cask No. 16

That stuff is pretty good. I like it when I'm in a blended whiskey mood.

re: Whiskey question
It's legit but I only buy for home use. You order it out and it'll cost you half a leg.

re: Whiskey question
Not a Crown fan, personally. I'll drink it if someone else is offering, but I wouldn't buy it.

You ever had the Cask? You won't regret it. Probably my go to.

I haven't. I'm sure it's good, but I've got a lot more that are above that on the "need to try" list.

Same here. Taste like someone put a packet of sweet and low in a glass of whiskey.

That's the best description I've heard. I agree completely.

That's Jack Daniels and Makers. I can't stand regular crown royal.

re: Whiskey question
My roommate bought the single barrel Jack and I tried a glass, but its oak taste was a little too extreme. I bought a bottle of eagle rare single barrel, poured it over ice, and definitely preferred it over JD single barrel. But I enjoy the taste of Maker's and coke moreso than either

Sammy, I think I recommended Bookers to you one night on here. Was that you? Have you tried it?

re: Whiskey question
I'll admit cask is better. It's like it is trying to be a whiskey. Still think it is for people who want a mix drink flavor while still wanting to order something on the rocks.

That was me. I haven't had the chance yet. I did have some Aberlour scotch tonight that was excellent, but that wasn't on my dollar. I'm waiting to try some of these different whiskeys for when I have a job. I'm hoping to pick up a part time this spring, but we'll have to see how classes turn out.

re: Whiskey question
What? It's got a smooth finish due to the cognac. Things with a hard bite is generally what you mix.

re: Whiskey question
Has anyone else tried Eagle Rare single barrel? It's not incredibly expensive by any means, but I feel like it's pretty decent whiskey. Maker's 64 and Blanton's single barrel are up next on my to try list

re: Whiskey question
Fwiw, I think whiskey and coke is the laziest drink possible and is the equivalent of adding grape juice to wine. Only about 5 mix drinks I will go for or else I am scotch/whiskey straight up.
