Agreed. The union leaders that negotiated these pensions should be prosecuted for misleading their members to believe they could ever be paid. Fraud.
But honestly, I have no sympathy for the workers. They chose their pension. If they didn't check into the solvency of the pension payor, it's their own fault. This is the problem with dependency. You no longer control your own destiny. Your fortunes lie in the hands of others that may or may not be competent and capable.

In fairness, some of those workers might live in closed shop states. So they did the right thing and got screwed by other people's idiocy.
Kind of like how millions of Americans who didn't vote for Ogump will still suffer due to his policies.

What was deliberate was the union workers striking. Quite certain the workers knew if Hostess went belly up they could kiss their pensions goodbye.
I'm not the smartest person, but common sense tells me don't strike when my company is on the brink of bankruptcy. Wait and pull that shite when they're turning a good profit.
