I've never seen a brake tag station in Louisiana that's refused brake tags because of a check engine light.
Maybe some of the municipalities that have their own tags (Orleans, Kenner, Gretna, etc...), but I haven't heard of this before.
no some of those municipalities will give you one as long as you can drive in...
but in the immeditate BR area the check engine light is a fail due to poor air quality regs from feds.
yet 1/4 of the drivers in this state have no insurance........

Taboes and Yukons - oil gauge goes haywire, gas gauge fails, the speedometer goes and WTF! 600 bucks for new cluster.

comes on every 5000 miles to remind you to change the oil, read the manual it will tell you how to turn it off.

Well just got he vehicle back. Replaced the oxygen sensor, brake light switch.
Looks like the big expense I didn't go for was replacing he fuel pump. The gas guage going haywire is due to faulty fuel level sender that is part of the pump they said.
Check engine light came back on after 9miles.
I called around three inspection places that I dont' normally go to and all three said, check engine light is an automatic FAIL!

Just go find a way to block the check engine light manually. Go to that google page, they'll know what to do.

where are you at dude? Maybe I can help you out.
Sounds like you're getting screwed by these people at the shop you supposedly had your issues repaired at.

The shop is actually a place I had a couple people send me to that said it was pretty damn good. My brother in law deals with them with his buisness also. Gonna run by auto zone in a sec and just see what codes are coming back now.
All this for an $18 dollar inspection sticker on a vehicle that drives perfect.

I will have to replace mine. Sucks to not know how much gas is left . My brother's GMC 2500 had the speedo go out in addition to oil and gass gauges. To replace the cluster did you use a chiltons or a service manual as a guide? Thx BT
