| CBS obtains the CIA talking points given to Amb. Rice (Posted on 11/15/12 at 4:31 pm)
quote:
(CBS News) WASHINGTON - CBS News has obtained the CIA talking points given to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice on Sept. 15 regarding the fatal attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, four days earlier. CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan says the talking points, which were also given to members of the House intelligence committee, make no reference to terrorism being a likely factor in the assault, which left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead. Rice, who was considered a likely nominee to replace Hillary Clinton as secretary of state, has been attacked by Republican lawmakers for saying on "Face the Nation" (video) on Sept. 16 that all indications were the attack "began spontaneously" - suggesting it likely sprang from a protest against an anti-Muslim video found on the Internet. Protests of that nature had been seen in other Muslim nations in the days and weeks before the Benghazi attack. The CIA's talking points read as follows: "The currently available information suggests that the demonstrations in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protests at the US Embassy in Cairo and evolved into a direct assault against the US diplomatic post in Benghazi and subsequently its annex. There are indications that extremists participated in the violent demonstrations. This assessment may change as additional information is collected and analyzed and as currently available information continues to be evaluated. The investigation is on-going, and the US Government is working with Libyan authorities to bring to justice those responsible for the deaths of US citizens."

No shite. There are several reports during that time, to be on guard during 9/11 as an increase of violence was likely. Hell, even Ambassador Stevens asked for more security and was denied. How do you liberal your way out of this one?

I don't think Ms. Rice made up the story, someone told her what to say. Who that someone was (in the CIA) and why they gave her the story she told is what this is all about.

Even if this is so, the president knew about it right away and not only let her promote lies, he continued to spout those same lies Himself. It's shameful that you continue to cover for him.

Let's see. CNN reports Petreaus testimony was the CIA "knew immediately" that it was an organized Terrorist attack. CBS magically obtains the CIA top secret document given to Rice. Was the CIA ordered to provide a cover story? Did the CIA lie to the White House on purpose? Raises even more questions.

Obama said it was the "White House". The White House does a lot of rogue shite unbeknownst to the President and his Administration.

Liars, damn liars and politicians. Once you start out based on a lie, it makes it real hard to rectify the situation. It would have been much better for Obama to come out and state that they just screwed up...they didn't take his requests for more security seriously enough...apologize and promise not to make the same mistakes. Instead, Obama and Hillary have chosen the path of dishonesty, and if there is any justice left in this country, the dishonesty will cost them their jobs and reputations.

Honest question, since when does the CIA issue talking points? Does not pass the smell test. The CIA briefs. Partisans then issue talking points based on briefings.

So, what you're saying is that she went out and spread the known LIE in order to appease that complete piece of f*cking FILTH that occupies the White House so that he could continue to LIE during his campaign. Thanks for info.

But didn't Obama (and Candy Crowley) say that he called it an act of terror in his Rose Garden speech?

So why did Obama call it a terrorist attack on September 12? Why would he make a statement in direct opposition to the intel available at the time? He even doubled down on that comment in the second presidential debate.

Yea either that or or she said exactly what was known at the time. Of all the people I don't understand being upset with about all of this Susan Rice has got to be number 1. Had literally nothing to do with the incident itself in any capacity. Clearly was asked by the administration to go on TV and deliver the prepared talking points, and then she didn't deviate at all from what the CIA was telling her and constantly hedged everything she said with, "this is what we know right now, could totally change though." What she said was, "heavily armed attackers, not affiliated with any protest, were the ones who opportunistically attacked and killed our ambassador." Has anything ever been so idiotically blown out of proportion?

Does anyone really care whether we call it an act of terror, a terrorist attack, or an attack by "extremist elements with heavy weapons." Like, we get it.

Man, some people set a pretty low bar for what is believed to scandalous behavior. During Bush's 8 years there were 6 or 7 US embassy attacks that killed a total of 36 people around the world. shite happens! Maybe if Karl Rove and the rest hadn't lied/misrepresented about the WMD in Iraq these poor frickers in Libya would still be alive.

The families of the victims do. It matters because the American people were intentionally deceived to believe it wasnt a terrorist attack.

Where exactly is her sense of integrity? Why hasn't she come out and said, "I was used as a tool to spread obviously false information, and I don't like how my reputation has suffered for it"? Something just doesn't pass the smell test.
