I agree. If your an athlete you run as part of training for the real sports. It's not a big deal everyone has to do the road work.
how many marathons have you ran Mr. Wrestler? I am sure you could go knock out a quick 3:45 with not even sweating.

Anyone that posts continuously about any workout they do are douches. Just like people that are always talking about their jobs, NOBODY CARES! However, I just did my first half marathon and I gained a lot of respect for Marathon and Ironman peeps. That shite is not good for your body!

How am I a douche? I enjoy running. I am training for a half marathon with a full marathon to follow because I like the challenge of myself versus a time goal.

CC runners are weird people. not always douchebags, but weird. it's the non-runners who go running who act douchey.

Runners are not all douches. Just some people are. There are plenty of people like this in every walk of life. There is also a huge difference between recreational or casual runners versus competitive runners. Competitive runners do not usually brag about how far they ran or whatever. They usually are in specific training groups or on teams where they discuss running amongst themselves, not trying to impress their co-workers.

Well I am sure I am doing something wrong. I have never really ran and have no strategy when I am running. I just decided 4 months ago to sign up for the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon (this past weekend) and started to run. I finished at 2 hours and 14 minutes which I was happy with since it was my first one. However, I am 6'4" and 230 lbs so 13.1 miles isn't too easy for me

Having competed for four years as an NCAA cross country/track athlete, I can attest that the sport is full of assnozzles. That said, I find that people who are actually serious about the sport/good runners are pretty tolerable. The annoying ones who blow up Facebook with ridiculous crap are the girls who spend 30 minutes before every run deciding which Lululemon top to wear or the guys who extoll the virtues of Vibram 5 Fingers and post some sort of Nike+ update after every single run. I have a buddy who was an All-American runner in college and ran professionally for 2.5 years post-college. He passed on this bit of wisdom that perfectly encapsulates running, "It's faggy, and it ain't worth it." Edit: basically what Vicks Kennel Club said

Runners are in shape and have great bodies, so their confidence is high, hence the somewhat douchy-ness? sprinters have the best bodies though.

It would be fricking sick if he was good enough to get into the elite training groups. What were some of his best times, roughly?

Well I should have said efficiently but technically it's correct because of the negative outcomes of running. Btw, thanks for the grammar correction. Not a flame, I'm serious.

Here it comes.. this thread will shortly roll over to full on cyclist hate.
I bring that up, because my neighborhood is surrounded by a road that is heavily used and marked as a cycling route. So everyday I have to weave in and out of the road because these fricks hog up the road with their gay spandex outfits and ugly helmets.

3:45 1500, 2:55-56 carry on the 1200 leg of the DMR. The group he trained with was fairly elite. Had a couple of guys make the 1500 final at a couple of US championships. Not on the OTC/Mammoth/Bay Area TC level, though.
