I'm not the biggest fan of it. My family makes it such an obligation that it turns me off.

Hate going home for holidays. It's always a dry Thanksgiving and Christmas where I have to sneak a flask around to avoid raising eyebrows. I'm constantly walking on eggshells around my mom trying to not upset her. To top things off this year, my 20 year old dropout cousin who has a 1 year old baby just split up with her babydaddy and is living with some new piece of trash guy that she wants to bring for family dinner on Thanksgiving.
I try to maintain a moderate buzz and keep my mouth shut for about 3 days straight.

I love going home for the holidays. Seeing all of my family & friends is the best feeling in the world. I never want to leave, and every year, it gets harder to do so. Last year I extended my son's vacation from school an extra 4 days because neither of us wanted to come back.
This year, it will be especially hard to leave my parents since we've recently found out my dad is ill, but thankful we get to spend both Thanksgiving & Christmas with them.

Hey it's your dad. Get off your arse and go see him. I'm sure he didn't always feel like getting you those transformers growing up, but he did. You will miss him when he's gone. Trust me I know.

Yes I hate it. That's why I'm spending thanksgiving with my brother up in DC instead. Much more fun

This is the first year I'm having to go home to see the family for Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to it. I haven't seen them since I moved in August. My brother and his wife are coming in with the niece as well, so everyone will be home. Will spend Turkey day with them and then go out with my friends until Sunday. I'm bringing all the Xmas presents too and giving them out b/c me and the GF are going skiing for Christmas. Just us. Family will get me for Thanksgiving, but I get to spend quality time with the gf at Xmas. Gift to myself.

Yes and no. I love seeing all of my family, but I hate the drive even though it's only 1.5 hours. I also hate not having any personal time when I'm home and everybody trying to make plans for me.

I have not gone home for Thanksgiving or Christmas in 10 years. This year I will go for Christmas to see my Dad who has been in the hospital since May, my Grandmother who is 86 and 3yo and 3mo babies of my niece and nephew.
Thanksgiving will spent in the Big Bend area riding my motorcycle and running some trails in the Jeep. That is my kind of holiday.

I love being with family. never know how many family thanksgivings you will have...make the most of it...I miss those days as a kid with all of my cousins at my grandmas house...
