I think he means skip them and start the next pack. The sugar pills are what the trigger the body's notice that we aren't pregnant. If you continue with the hormones, then no period.

The sugar pills are only there to allow the period to happen. Otherwise it would go away. They have no other function.

Oh yeah dude, tell us how women "should" live our lives since you know EVERYTHING about us.
touchy Im not making laws here. Just advice. I am a male, and I dont know everything, but I am aware that many women hate the pain and inconvenience of the period. Why bother with it? Seriously, think about the days when our species evolved, women would have been pregnant or nursing most of their time on earth. I would bet avg <100 periods in a lifetime. (btw I dont know everything, but I know a lot - many years of higher education and experience with human physiology, and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human disease) fyi If you love bleeding profusely every month, go ahead, i was just offering an opinion not often heard in medicine because it sounds politically incorrect

I don't want to rely on weird chemicals in my body that could give me potentially life-threatening problems. Plus, I don't want to mess with the system if it could cause problems that no one can figure out how to fix - like down the road when I want to have kids. Sorry for getting touchy there. I just read your post as "lol y do women even want to bleed it doesn't do anything lol".

thats cool all respeck to your choices I would suggest that the "weird chemicals" are really pretty straightforward reproductions of your natural hormones, and that having several hundred periods is what is actually "messing with the system" but I get your point

actually they alter the natural levels of the hormones we naturally produce. The pill offers great benefits, but we're not really sure of many of the long-term effects on women's health. Think of the increase in breast cancer in the last 50 years. Is there a link between the increased hormones and increased instances of breast cancer and cancers of reproductive organs. And not all women can take them. Messing with hormones like that isn't always the best thing to do.

I've never been able to take them; they've always made my blood pressure go through the roof, even when I was in my 20s.

LINK FYI
quote:
Menstrual periods Women who have had more menstrual cycles because they started menstruating early (before age 12) and/or went through menopause later (after age 55) have a slightly higher risk of breast cancer. The increase in risk may be due to a longer lifetime exposure to the hormones estrogen and progesterone.
quote:
Having children Women who have had no children or who had their first child after age 30 have a slightly higher breast cancer risk. Having many pregnancies and becoming pregnant at a young age reduce breast cancer risk. Pregnancy reduces a woman's total number of lifetime menstrual cycles, which may be the reason for this effect.
quote:
Breastfeeding Some studies suggest that breastfeeding may slightly lower breast cancer risk, especially if breastfeeding is continued for 1½ to 2 years. But this has been a difficult area to study, especially in countries such as the United States, where breastfeeding for this long is uncommon. One explanation for this possible effect may be that breastfeeding reduces a woman's total number of lifetime menstrual cycles (similar to starting menstrual periods at a later age or going through early menopause).
But yes, the pill also increases breast cancer risk to some extent for a few years after taking it Endometrial cancer is probably the opposite risk profile from breast (although much more rare than breast obviously). Ovarian cancer risk factors are not really known. Overall though, more periods = more breast cancer.

My ex had IUD. She had no period. ETA: Instead of once a month, she acted like a bitch all the time. Don't know if this had anything to do with the IUD or not. Just sayin.

We get a hotel room when I was 16 and GF started almost immediately after opening the door....had to run to gas station to get tampons b/c neither she or her friend had any. A month later when we FINALLY got to have sex she started during sex. I could go on and on....this stuff doesn't bother me at all.
That's how I am. When you've lived around as many women as I have and dated the same girl for as long as I did, you get over. It really isn't as big of a deal as most guys make it out to be in their heads.
