re: Sirens Wail In Tel Aviv

Can you give a brief rundown of the situation there as it stands?

Who are the involved parties? What's coming? Casualties?

The IDF Spokesperson tells The Times of Israel that 274 rockets have landed in Israel since the commencement of Operation Pillar of Defense Wednesday afternoon. The Iron Dome has shot down 105 rockets.

The IDF emphasizes the fact that those two figures are not the total number of rockets fired at Israel in the past day.

Palestinian sources report that at least 15 Gaza Strip residents have been killed and over 100 injured in the past day. Three Israelis died earlier on Thursday when a rocket struck their building in Kiryat Malachi. Magen David Adom reports 45 Israelis injured by rockets.

Who is involved: Hamas and Israel, with a possibility of Egypt entering the conflict on the side of Hamas

What's coming: Israel is mobilizing for an invasion of the Gaza Strip.

Casualties: Don't know at the moment but there are people who are dead and wounded.

Thanks. I've mainly been following the board and paying attention to a play I'm in (learning lines, etc.).

Is the situation in Egypt being influenced by their new president, or is this military leadership looking to flex some muscle?

The sirens wailing is the new news, reported about 6 minutes ago, So I guess the rockets are now hitting Tel Aviv and not 9 miles away.

Is there any major reason to believe this will be any more than the usual?

The IDF is mobilizing on the border with Palestine and the reservists have been called up. Looks like Israel is preparing for a ground offensive.

Israel is pissed this time. It is not going to be the standard response of blowing up a few Hamas military installments.

Yes.

Everyone that lives in Tel Aviv has bunker rooms and gas masks in their homes ready in a minute. I believe the sirens wailed approx. 9 minutes ago as missiles made it to Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv Israel has not had this type of attack since the 90's as far as the info. I just read confirmed.

Egypt is not going to get in the way. They are quietly on Israel's side and have been for quite some time. Egypt might bark like a dog for PR purposes but it is not in their economic or social interest at all to side with militants in Gaza, Hamas, Iran, or Syria. Egypt knows tourism and the port are economy and fight with Israel and they will lose both of those economic assets which would plummet the country into further disarray. The Egyptian military knows this which is why they have always quietly sided with Israel.

So the next time the Zionist claim they are alone and have no allies and we have to send them billions, we can call BS on that?

Interesting, it is as if 48, 67, 73 never happened in your bizarro world.

All correct, BO=before Obama. They were only quietly on Israel's side under Mubarak because we paid him to be.

Now the muslim brotherhood is in charge in Cairo, Egypt; under Morsi and is in cahootz with HAMAS. They are one in the same radical terrorists. So if Egypt gets involved it will be at the very least a full fledge war.
