or how about when the dem president chose to go hang out with jay z instead of doing his job? or when he ran off to vegas to fund raise after the benghazi attacks (which he blamed on the video because he and his staff dont know what the frick is going on over there until after the fact)

Mc Cain is a walking billboard for term limits. Dems and Republicans make lifetime careers "fighting" each other and they all are part of the mess we have in DC today. Limit Senators to 12 year terms, and Representatives to 10 year terms and you might have officials who care more about listening to their constituents than their political careers.

In case you didn't know ... McCain had a career prior to becoming a US Senator. Your so-called 12-year term would be only 6.5 years longer than McCain spent as a POW.

There was a hearing earlier today (not sure which committee) that I found streaming online but most of these hearing will be closed due to discussions of classified info.

Then criticize both. Don't be the fool who points out the fault of someone else just to deflect. Its childish at best.

The nation is bigger than any one person. Mc Caoin has made politics a career after his military service, and while he is a fine man many fine men have become corrupted with Washington and power. For the good of the whole, we could lose some good public servants; but it is obvious that our system isn't working. After FDR people came to realize the danger in letting a POTUS serve over 12 years. Now it's becoming obvious that when a man like Reid can stop legislation cold, or a Pelosi or a Boehner can wield enormous power like they do; we need to limit their terms. We have recently seen 100 year old Senators. Mc Cain is approaching 80 and his best days were stolen from him in service to our nation. I am grateful for his service as well as all the service our veterans have given us, but the people's business is not being done. Our system is broken.

This portion of the hearing is "low level". I'm sure they coordinated what would be asked and already know fully what would be disclosed but need it included on record. The real answers and testimony that might supply them comes later. McCain is doing his best to make sure the eyes of the country are looking (figuratively) when it happens. Considering how the media has avoided the coverage of this story I can understand why McCain feels like he needs to give interviews as the hearings took place that day. Not saying I agree with the strategy, only that I understand why he feels that he has to.

But although McCain had time to speak on the Senate floor and on television about the lack of information provided to Congress about the attack, he didn't attend the classified briefing for senators Wednesday given to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, of which he is a member.
If you want to ask a question about why a decision was made you have to ask the person who made the decision. McCain's questions were not going to be answered as part of a scripted briefing delivered by those attempting damage control. Can you imagine Sam Ervin and his Watergate Committee relying on a closed door briefing from the Nixon Administration to resolve that matter? Well that is what you seem to be expecting here.
