I disagree with Rand.

Just like literally every government ever. Obama didn't invent laws or taxes. Hate to burst that bubble, bro.

He believes in a totalitarian state unfettered by the restrictions of the Constitution.

True. The French Revolution predated the Communist Manifesto by almost 60 years. Marx just put it into words.

That's really stupid moral equivalence. Ergo, England = North Korea because they are both govts.

Oh, he's inventing lots of new ones, circumventing others and trying like hell to raise taxes, BRO.

Yes I believe if you consult Kapital book 5, chapter 7, you'll see that Karl Marx recommends "disastrous budgeting" as a key strategy to ushering in the end of history.

False dichotomy ("You either support Rand or are a Marxist") and no, I'm not.

Not what I'm saying at all. My point is that in any government some individuality is sacrificed or "subjugated for the collective." Indicting any government leader of advocating that is dumb, because there's nothing unique or wrong with it.

Yeah, asking you to substantiate your claims is totally lame, dude.

According to the criteria I've read so far, what 20th or 21st century President was not a Marxist? TR's trust busting is surely Marxist. Wilson's internationalism. FDR absolutely. Eisenhower's corporate tax rates and all that eminent domain to build the interstate. Nixion's and Ford's wage and price controls - can't get much more Marxist than that. Carter's cardigan sweaters. Reagan tripled the deficit - second biggest tax increase in history. We apparently were the first communist country.

I don't see how you can dispute the accuracy of her statement. You can disagree with her attitude; that you think it's a good thing for the individual to be subjugated by the power of the state.

It's a blanket statement that completely ignores nuance.quote:

And I do, to an extent. We have laws and taxes, just like every society ever, for a reason. Unless there's something I'm missing, the only way one could agree with Rand would be for that person to be a total anarchist.

Or you just believe that the state should be subjugated to individuals rights.

He has to. Here's the issue, about 50% of this country did not even VOTE! If he came out and stated that was his beliefs, he would have lost in a landslide. Those that did not vote would have gotten off their butts and voted! They have to lie to get elected because people would not accept it. Over a period of time, the concept will change.

So, what are you? Are don't you know? I'm a Libertarian tending anarcho. Some use the term minarchist.

You just defined moral equivalence and don't even realize it. How sad.
quote:

Well, the most obvious would be RR lowering taxes. But since you don't understand M.E., you would probably say that BO's raising taxes = RR's lowering taxes because both Presidents changed tax rates.
quote:
Yeah, asking you to substantiate your claims is totally lame, dude.
So, you want a link that says "Obama found to be a Marxist".
