I'm sure it helps if your goal is grad school but I wouldn't advise someone to go into debt for one

So, it's pretty obvious who on here has a Bull shite major. Business, Engineering, and Basic Sciences account for 95% of real degrees. Here's a test: If you disagree with the above statement, you have a Bull shite degree. Also, to the idiot who said "if you're going to law school your bachelors doesn't matter", look at the employment rates and figures on business and engineering undergrads with law degrees vs everyone else and come back.

Calm down. You are taking what I said out of context. I was making a point that he took the bull shite route to get in law school.

Yes I did. However, I feel that if I would have not been such an immature college kid, I would have chosen a major that would have better prepared me for law school, like finance or another business-related area. Oh, well. Too late now. Had a lot of fun though

Unless you get your PhD than absolutely.
Completely wrong. The key question is what does a person want to do as a career. IF a person wants to be a licensed therapist and provide therapy services in an outpatient or inpatient setting then an undergraduate degree in pyschology would prepare you well for a Masters degree in: Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling (to name a few). After you gets those Masters degree and serve a two year supervised you take a State Board exam and become licensed if you pass. That will get you a private practice or a career working for somebody else with an average starting pay in Louisiana of around $50K. This is just one scenario. And, in this scenario a PhD would not even be needed. PhD's in Psychology are generally needed for person's wishing to pursue a career in teaching at the college level or conducting reseach.

No doubt this would have helped but you got in and it's all about what you do going forward that matters

NO College is about the pursuit of knowledge and the opportunity to deepen your understanding of subjects that interest you. There is no such thing as a bull shite major and anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand the purpose of education. And that fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of higher education is the root of many major problems facing our society today.

great thread. i am checking in with a completely useless degree. i am 24 and already back in school for another bs and ms in an advanced science. my ex got a ba in psychology. she is currently in an accelerated nursing program because she couldn't find anything to do beside be a secretary or an assistant.

This x100000 Phd allows a psychologist to charge a little more for counseling......it is not necessary to start your own practice. If you want to go on and become a Psychiatrist, then a phd is needed

Well. This is where we disagree. If I believed this then no, I wouldn't think there were any bull shite majors.
