I majored in it. It was easy the first two years, and extremely difficult the last two. LSU recently incorporated a few "graduate level" classes that you can take as a Psych major. These classes include General Pharamacology, Neuropsychology, Pharmocokinetics/Pharmacodynamics, History of Psychology, and the History of Psychiatry. In some of them, I was one of few undergrad students, and the rest were grad students. It's ridic how often I use my psych major, though. It's cool being able to explain American Horror Story right now to people who don't understand, too.

Many jobs only care that you have a 4 year degree. What it is is often inconsequential. Really depends on what career path you want to take.

Sorry, but some of us have been in the real world for a while and understand that there is no such thing as a bull shite major.
Doesn't really have to do with the classes themselves. Has more to do with the motivation behind the person taking them. It's what you put into it really; but it doesn't make the major any less of a joke.

B.A. = Bachelor of Arts I've found that most classes that I took that fell under this category required the lease amount of application and more memorization. B.S. = Bachelor of Science Vice versa.

Please spare me your real world wisdom. Look at Brewhan's post. Guy openly admits he had a bull shite major. He is in law school now though so it doesn't matter. He could have majored in finance, accounting, or chemical engineering and went to law school too.

Appreciate the support, but you may have just fed me to the lions mentioning the law school thing

I almost made the subject line "is psychology a b.s. major?" Then I realized that would confuse everybody

As an undergrad degree, It is pretty much useless. But I don't think it is bull shite. It is no less science than chemistry or physics, but a lot of people don't realize that. It's not just "sit around and talk about your feelings" there is actual research and whatnot.

The research I did was, by far, more interesting than anything I've ever done in my entire life. Also, it was interesting to see videos of all the procedures from the 50s-60s. I was always queazy after, though.

Not at all. My fiance is getting her Masters right now, then it's on to get her Doctrite. The beauty of getting a Pshyc Degree is that not only can you have your own practice, you can teach at a local University. Dual income never seems like a bad idea to me. NTM: if you mess with the wrong psychologist, they'll mind-frick you until you bleed.

What Ron said. And if you are going into it to make 6 figures, then you aren't doing it right.

I don't consider General Studies to be a major. And unlike a lot of you youngsters on the OT, I don't see engineering as the pinnacle of academia.
