| New York City for Christmas (Posted on 11/15/12 at 9:20 am)
Well, the weekend of Dec 14-16 anyway. Suggestions? I'm staying at a hotel/hostel with the SO on Bowery near Little Italy. I've never been this time of year..besides the overpriced broadway shows, any sugestions or unusual things you would recommend?

Definitely the Rockettes Christmas Show. I wouldn't miss it if I were there.

The Comedy Cellar on MacDougal St isn't too far, better than any broadway show imo

Christmas time in NYC is both awesome and a total clusterfrick. Every place is crowded, it's impossible to get a taxi, but it's also pretty cool to see the city decked out. You're staying in a cool part of town with lots of stuff accessible by foot. Go to the Tenement Museum on the Lower East Side, it's cool. Then go have lunch at Momofuku Ssam bar.

Get dimsum at Pings in China Town. You could probably walk from where you are staying.

one of my favorite spots is really close to there. Barrio Chino LINK it's a good spot to get a reasonable priced dinner.

I took my 3 kids a couple times. Didn't seem like too long of a show. If I were going sans kids I eat a Gramercy Tavern and catch some live music venue in the village. Ice skate at Rockefeller Center or watch others do it. Long walk in Central Park.

We will be there that weekend, too ! Heading to Le Bernadin Friday night and WD-50 Thursday night. Taking the kiddos to the Rockettes at some point. Looking for kid friendly things to do during the day ... any suggestions ?
