re: Chris Ivory tells Coaches "Stick with me".

I think it's very obvious sproles, PT, and Ivory are 1-2-3 in no particular order...Ingram 4th...cadet 5th

I don't see why we couldn't have 4 active RB, especially since Sproles does KR, and PR.

We've had 4 active in the two weeks that Sproles has missed. So it's not out of the ordinary.

NO ONE NEEDS TO BE BENCHED.

It's nice that you think that, but the truth of the matter is that you need to look at who's getting carries right now.

Ingram and Ivory are (rightfully so) splitting carries in similar "workhorse" roles. Over the last two weeks, these two have combined to average 20 carries per game (11.5 for Ingram, 8.5 for Ivory). It should be safe to assume that they would stay at 20 per game, with the distribution shifting a little bit.

When Sproles gets back, he will get his share of touches in the passing game and a few carries per game.

Thomas will get his touches in the passing game and with a few carries per game. Again, over the last two weeks, PT has 5.5 carries per game, with a few more touches in the passing game.

So that's essentially 26 carries per game. Last year we averaged 27 carries per game en route to finishing 6th in the league in rushing. In 2009, we averaged 29 carries per game. So if we mix Sproles in for a few carries per game, we'd be back to the sort of balance that we had in 2009 and 2011.

It's implied that Sproles would step back into the team in place of Cadet.

Agree. These guys both have been injured before. Splitting them up minimizes that. And every single true Saints fan on this board winces at the thought of losing all of our backs again.

I have to agree with this.

I don't care if all five of them get carries, as long as we commit to running the ball and controlling the clock, keeping our defense off the field, this team can win every game left on the schedule.

I really don't have an answer to this one. Ivory is doing the best, so benching him seems silly. Can't bench PT. It'll probably be Sproles or MR.

I'm confused, can't we just bench Cadet?

People don't seem to understand that a completed pass where the receiver stays in bounds takes as much time off the clock as a running play.

I hear you. I've been saying it all season. It takes off more if you count scrambling, pocket presence, route development, etc..

Our passing game is what wins us games. Our running game is there to supplement it. There is no need to ever rely on our running game in tight situations. Let Drew do what he does best. Carve up the D. If Pete changes his play callinng with a halftime lead one more time ima go down there and yell at him myself.

Yeah, people realize it. But there is something to be said about a 15 play drive that takes 12 minutes that wears down the other defense s opposed to a five play drive that takes 4 minutes.

Except when Jimmmay and Lance decide not to catch the ball.

They should stick with him. He jump started this rushing attack.

It'll be interesting to see how the coaching staff handles this.

Sure. But both of those can happen regardless of whether you're running or passing the ball.

If you ever want a Saint 15 play drive you better put Chase in at QB.

It can...let's just say that I'm more confident now that the run game has showed up as a compliment to our pass game. I still think drew throwing the ball 50 times with no run game is a recipe for disaster. Adding the run game back with power backs like ivory and Ingram means more for a defense to prepare for ans have to defend.

Number of carries is your indicator of how good a back is?
