At the beginning of the year I traded my 2009 Jeep Wrangler Sahara edition and got a Chevy 2500HD. I love that truck and I'm not getting rid of it. That being said, the girlfriend is wanting a car that both of us can drive and since it's just us in the house we were wanting to get something sporty to trade her car for. The choices we've made so far are:
Scion FR-S
Hyundai Gen Coupe
Subaru Impreza
VW Golf
Honda Accord Coupe
Anybody who has any experiences with those cars they would like to share or have any recommendations please share. Any help is appreciated! We're headed out next week to test drive them.

Mercedes SLS AMG. I have 3 and i would highly recommend it.

When people ask me about small cars now, I always respond with a Jetta or Passat TDI. Probably best cars for the money on the market right now, an get over 40mpg. My uncle has a friend who has a Jetta TDI and she consistently gets over 50mpg

From everything I've seen, you won't beat the FR-S in the "fun to drive" department. I'd go that route if you can deal with the lack of space (it's a very small car) and don't mind not having neck-breaking speed (they only have around 190-200ish hp).
ETA: Really funny all of these people laughing at the "sporty" part of your OP. All of the cars you listed are considered to have sporty handling...guess very few here are familiar with Autocross...

That one looks like an Acura TSX mixed with an Accord, but I have been extremely crucial of cars since Hyundai and Kia have been copying other car's looks. GM and Ferd have been doing it lately as well.
Still...very nice, reliable cars. Look at the Passat TDI too. IIRC, they just came out with a new one a few years back and they are hard to find. Get one of those and don't let her put gas in it before the warranty is up
Also, watch a lot of Youtube reviews and comparisons to get to know each one better. I have persuaded 4 people to buy the cars I thought suited them on Youtube videos alone

In all seriousness, they put a weak motor in the FR-S to judge the demand. Probably gonna come out with a much stronger version in a year or two
