I think you need to do a little research about reality.
People went to rescue the CONSULATE (seriously people are the words consulate and embassy that similar), they were never told not to. There was no couple of hour delay, the annex responded almost immediately (save waiting about 20 minutes for more support from the Libyans which went it didn't come they left anyway)
Random guy on the message board asserts the military had people ready to go, so tell me where were they? How long would it have taken to get them there?
Keep up with your crazy talking points, the laser bit has been dropped because it was not true.
Plus bombs from jets are a really poor defense weapon when you have an unknown number of people inside a compound mixed in with friendlies. Also the bombs from planes tend to cause really large explosions and you really only want them dropping near your position as an absolute last resort, especially when direct communication with the jet is likely impossible since it wasn't planned for.
If you look at the timeline, the attack began at 9:40 and everyone was out of the compound by 11:30. that is two hours. Even if the decision was made right them to bomb something, between the time it would have taken to brief pilots, ready a plane, and get them on target I am not sure if you could have done it (plus using a plane to bomb is still a really stupid idea)
Also except in the delusional world of the right wind media, the president never ordered anyone to stand down. LINK
