Hard to feel pity for medical device sales reps making in excess of $200K often without any education/medical credentials. The industry is among those to blame for the spiraling costs of healthcare.

You honestly think a sales rep making that kind if commission is going to get the axe? Absolutely not. The medical device industry is the LAST to blame for cost. The industry is quite competitive. You can't just set your price. I would say the the #1 factor for the high cost of medical devices is regulation. The bureaucracy is mind-numbing. Add to that the 2.3% device tax, and its getting increasingly difficult to be a medical device company.

By the way, that 2.3% revenue tax is one of the more asinine parts of OCare.

I can't speak for these large corporations, but I personally know of two smaller company owners (roughly 75 employees at one and about 150 at the other) waited until after the election to make layoffs. I have talked to both of them regarding the subject before and after the election to get their opinions on things.

First, your assertion re: "often without any education" is just silly. I'm not enthralled by healthcare sales reps making 200%-600% of RN-level incomes, but their role is more substantive than you acknowledge.

Second, though am am no fan of the President (massive understatement), I see little evidence that daily layoff trends changed much in the election run-up as compared with its aftermath

Third, this thread is more political than MT. Should be moved to the PTB IMO.
