Yeah, that's me for sure. Old school, definitely. Love my .50 Hawken and my .50 Ozark Mountain Rifle. I use em a lot even during regular rifle season. I can't hit a bull in the butt with a flintlock, though. Can't help but flinch every time when that flashpan goes off right in my face. It's interesting that different states have such different definitions of "primitive" weapons.

Unless you are a very experienced shooter you're not going to hit anything at 500 yards with any rifle.
You DEFINTELY won't do it with anything that's legal for primitive season.

Yea the handi rifle is a hell of a bargin. I've only shot one CVA and I liked it, but I've shot a whole bunch of handi rifles and they were all accurate.

I like my H&R 45-70. Small easy to carry around, reaches out and touches pretty much 90% of my hunting. Got a $100 bushnell scope on mine.

Make sure you check your zero before the season each year. They kick hard enough to break cheap scopes. Pops broke one
