| Better chance of BCS bowl- USC w or USC e? (Posted on 11/14/12 at 7:59 am)
Trojans contol own destiny. beat UCLA and they play the ducks for a BCS (USC rose) berth. They will need to be in top 14. This is guaranteed if they also beat ND. Cocks ranked much higher but need help. What say MSB?

USCw can still win the Pac-12, if they win 2 more games. USCe is behind UGA,Bama, UF, LSU, & Texas A&M in the SEC, and only 2 are going.

I don't know about that, if the beat ND, then lose the following week, I don't think a 4 loss Pac-12 team would be in the top 14.

There's basically no way for USC to get into the top 14 without also winning the Pac-12. Basically it will come down to the UCLA and Oregon games. Obviously SC will be a big undedog at Autzen I'd still say there's a better chance for USC than for South Carolina, who is in basically no mans land as far as the BCS goes

West. South Carolina has no shot IMO. At least USC could win the Pac 12 championship game.

Well, since USCe has almost no shot at a BCS bowl and USCw controls their own destiny in the Pac-12, this is a pretty easy call.

Yeah the SEC is too deep. We've been ranked in the top 10 nearly the entire year but we'll probably get dropped down to the Chick-fil-A bowl, if not lower. Not to mention even if the SEC bowl hierarchy weren't so deep and lets say there is 1 BCS bowl slot left at the end of the year and there was a 9-3 So.Cal team and a 10-2 S.Car team, So.Cal would still have a huge advantage of jumping into that BCS bowl slot due to their name brand and the LA/Cali population size.

Life without Lattimore.

USCw. USCe gets screwed by the BCS rules limiting the SEC to two bids. Just short of them going undefeated and teams like Georgia, Florida, Texas A&M, and LSU dropping 1-2 games, they're not getting an At-Large because SC doesn't travel like any of those schools.

Neither have a good shot at all, but USCw. The Trojans "only" need to beat UCLA and Oregon (in fact, they maybe could steal an at-large bid if they beat UCLA and ND and lose to Oregon. Unlikely, but possible). Meanwhile, USCe has to not only beat Clemson without Lattimore, they probably have to have Florida, LSU and A&M all lose. Florida's a possibility with FSU, but very hard to see LSU or A&M losing with what they have left.

If this rule weren't in place, then the SEC would have 10 teams in BCS bowl games every year. FACT.

Not even a good question. South Carolina has a 1% chance (I'm being generous). USC has a 40% chance. USC wins out...or makes the pac12 championship game and beats Oregon and they are in S Carolina wins out they still need miracles to happen for them to have a chance.

What? Lattimore has nothing to do with that. Lattimore played in our 2 losses and we are 6-1 over the last 2 seasons in which Lattimore didn't play. Should beat Wofford next week and regardless if we beat Clemson or not we'll be in the same position bowl-wise.

they don't even have a 40% chance of beating Oregon. But yeah as people have mentioned USCw is the correct answer. South Carolina probably needs Fla, LSU and A&M to lose again AND Bama to beat Ga.

Both have almost 0 chance. There's no way USC will beat Oregon. There's actually a pretty good chance USC will finish with 5 losses

That's what the playoffs for my man. Rest of the country because two SEC teams played for it last year, they'll be getting a lot more of that with the playoffs. ETA: Texas A&M upsetting Alabama was the death stab to our BCS dreams. Alabama would be on their way to the NCG, A&M wouldn't be a factor with three losses, UGA would be relegated to a lower bowl after the loss to Bama in the SECCG, and Florida should lose to FSU. We would only have to deal with LSU (which would still be difficult because they beat us and would bring more fans to the Sugar). We had like a 15% chance before Bama lost. Now we have no shot. Because of Bama losing, every SEC team is knocked down a bowl slot. That does not bode well for our opponents.

Hmm not really. Only year that MIGHT have happened would have been last year with Arkansas getting a third spot and there would have been no guarantee of them getting an at-large.

That's not true. The SEC was getting two BCS teams. The SEC still has two BCS teams. Now it's the Sugar and Fiesta/Rose instead of the BCSNCG and Sugar. Amateur.
