| NYC Bar Scene (Posted on 11/13/12 at 1:31 pm)
I will heading to NYC for the first time in early December for the Saints game. Obviously, I will be doing the tourist thing for the most part but have no idea where to go for night life. Any suggestions? The group will mainly consist of people in their mid-twenties that prefer more of a bar scene than club scene

There is a cool LSU bar across the street from the Empire State building.

In general, the post-grad old frat scene is in Murray Hill (30's and 3rd ave.) and the Upper East Side. College kids near NYU in the Village. Hipsters in the East Village. Clubs in the Meatpacking district. Can't name any specific bars, as all the good ones have all changed I'm sure since I've left (RIP to the Village Idiot--best dive bar ever).

You're out of luck. It's a dry county.

Pete's Tavern in Gramercy PJ Clarke's on 55th and 3rd Ave. Runyon's on 50th and 2nd Ave. Elaine's on Upper East Side is still viable. Oak Bar in The Plaza, Safari in the Waldorf and Harry's in the Helmsley Palace.

Legends on 33rd I believe, right across from Empire State. Watched last years Miss. St. game there and it was awesome but it was for a wedding and the bride's Mom knows one of the owners so they gave us the upstairs for a private party and it was badass but very crowded downstairs. 2nd Avenue has some really cool pubs and taverns between 38th and 56th

If you're going the high end hotel bar route, gotta hit the King Cole at the St. Regis. I'm not a huge fan of the high end hotel bars, but they're something to go to once and check off your "list."

if you want a good beer bar in midtown, Rattle N Hum is good. Check out Gramercy Tavern, but they may be more of a restaurant than tavern. There are also some neat bars in Chelsea.

Bring a lot of money. It'll cost ya 50 bucks a bar just to get a buzz.
