Gov. Bobby Jindal on Monday called on Republicans across the country to "stop being the stupid party" and make a concerted effort to reach a broader swath of voters with an inclusive economic message that pre-empts efforts to caricature the GOP as the party of the rich, Politico reports. In his first interview since his party's electoral thumping last week, Jindal urged Republicans to reject anti-intellectualism and to embrace a populist-tinged reform approach that he says would have mitigated what exit polls show was one of President Barack Obama's most effective lines of attack against Republican challenger Mitt Romney. "We've got to make sure that we are not the party of big business, big banks, big Wall Street bailouts, big corporate loopholes, big anything," Jindal told Politico in a 45-minute telephone interview. "We cannot be, we must not be, the party that simply protects the rich so they get to keep their toys." He was just as blunt on how the GOP should speak to voters, criticizing his party for offending and speaking down to much of the electorate. "It is no secret we had a number of Republicans damage our brand this year with offensive, bizarre comments—enough of that," Jindal says. "We've also had enough of this dumbed-down conservatism. We need to stop being simplistic, we need to trust the intelligence of the American people and we need to stop insulting the intelligence of the voters."

The voters lack of intelligence is the whole problem.........the democrats pander to morons and the lowest common denominator.

How hard is it not to talk about Rape? honestly....some of the stupidest shite I've ever heard. If you are asked a question just "I believe Rape is a horrible thing" then move on.

The abortion issue is what's funny to me. There's people in this area that are very conservative, HATE abortions. Want there to be a law against it, etc. But when their daughter comes up pregnant by a black or hispanic, guess what happens. Then they try to keep it on the hush and act as if she was never pregnant. Funny how that works.

That's a fast shift. Since Jindal will no longer face Louisiana voters, I guess he doesn't worry so much about the fundamentalists anymore.
He couldn't get away with saying the earth wasn't made in 10,000 years or that evolution happened. Too many of the voucher schools here in LA will now teach this as science. The Catholic system and other mainstream parochial systems balance beliefs more openly. This sort of talk would not work with his base here in LA.
Jindal proves once again he is a chameleon. The GOP would wise to pick someone authentic.

Bobby is using the voucher program to "permit" those new schools to teach creationalism. And that program is funded by public funds, so it's not just a matter of private schools. If you think he's been an absenti governor these past 5 few mths, wait and see how much he's around this next yr. He's a fraud.
